Wharton Tiers/Tom Verlaine/Sonic Youth

OK, the night had come that i got to see my afvorite band in the whole
world, Sonic Youth. This was also the last show that I saw while living
in PA. Mike, Dave, and I got to the Electric Factory early and got a
space right in front of the door to get in (but I had to pay 8$). We got
in and chilled for awhile, played in the coffins, bought a shirt,
watched anime, and patiently waited for the first band. Wharton Tiers
came out with his assembled group that was reminiscent of Glenn Branca's
guitar orchestras some 20 years ago. They were quite good. Next was Tom
Verlaine (the guy from Television) and another guy who put me to sleep.
Ugh. They were mellow to the max. I did not enjoy them at all. To end
the show was Sonci Youth. Lee was the first to come on the stage as the
crowd suddenly got excited. SY started off with "Stil", off of the
second SYR EP, and then went into "Sunday". They stuck to the new album
through the whole set and came out to do an encore which consisted of
"Anagrama", "Shadow of a Doubt" and "Death Valley 69". Great stuff,
can't wait to see them again.
