Immune/the Assistant/Paris @ 2am/Forstella Ford

06.24.00...the Bassmint Reading, PA

The summer heat has been getting to me lately. After spending the bulk of the day cleaning, I took a nap fully aware that I was going to sleep through this show, but I wasn't worried. I had told Pam that I was going to take a break from shows for ahwile and I meant it. I am getting a bit burned out on them, and I knew that if I went to this one, I'd be even more stressed.

I woke up around 7.30 and decided to brave the big, bad, ugly world and be social for a change. When I got there, Immune were playing. I saw about three songs and went outside because they were boring. I did not like them at all. I ran into Jacen and Talya by the merch table and we proceeded to sit down in the grass with Kat for the next two bands, one of which was the Assistant, who sounded decent, although I only heard them when someone opened the door

Jacen and I went inside to see who we thought was going to be Forstella Ford, but was actually Paris @ 2am, who were quite good. They reminded me of Four Hundred Years with more melody. They played for maybe 15-20 minutes before Forstella Ford came on and brought down the house. They were insanely good, rocking hard and never letting up. One of their guitarist's hand and elbow was bleeding, but he still played like it was his last day on earth. In the end, it was worth it to go to this show. I had a good time and I saw two great bands.
