Alex is a great guy. He puts on a lot of shows at his house, which I have been going to while I spend most of the summer at my Mom's house near Reading. Michelle, Josh, and I arrived around 8, but the PA system had not arrived yet, so after driving around for thrity minutes we went back, and the first band was finishing their set. Oddbelly, a local group, played next and can easily be desribed as Nirvana Jr. They were quite unoriginal. Not only did they show there influences, but by the third song, they became their influences.
The Hidden Chord was the suprise of the evening. They were just the thing I needed to drive away my bad mood. I wasn't familiar with their material, nor did I know wherethey were from, but I was impressed with their skill and showmanship. Each song was remarkably different from the last, and just by watching them play, you could tell that they were having fun. Having fun is the most imporatnt part of playing in a band.
We ended up ducking out early because I had to get up early the following morning. I think that I am still burned out on shows, so staying for about two hours was a decent amount of time there.
