Interesting to say the least. I arrived at the Black Cat early again. I wandered around for a little bit before the show to pass the time. There were very few people who came early. I surmised that alot of them were at the Frodus show down the street at the Metro, but I could have been wrong. Me and two other guys talked with the merch guy for Lung Leg for awhile. We babbled on about mostly British music and how much everyone hates Oasis. Deep Lust was the first band on, and I was surprised to see Allison Wolfe fronting this band. I didn't know that she was in a new band since Cold Cold Hearts broke up. I had seen her wandering around before the show, but I didn't know she was in one of the bands. They were good, but it wasn't anything different from Bratmobile or CC Hearts, 'cept that there were guys in the band. The next band was Lung Leg, who I had previously heard and enjoyed, and this time was no exception. There was more variety to their music than Deep Lust and they had more intelligent lyrics, too. In the minutes after Lung Leg, the crowd started tightly packing itself against the stage in anticipation of The Make Up. They came out in matching black suits and started off with a song off of one their earlier albums. The front half of the room was going fucking crazy. We were jumping up and down and up again. There was nothing stopping us. Then Ian slowed things down a bit and read an e-mail he received from a burgeoning gospel yea-yea band in CA before he thrust his way into "Live in the Rhythm Hive". Holy shit! I haven't danced like that in a long time. Throughout the show Ian felt the need to become one with the crowd, constatly jumping out and body-surfing while continuing to sing, too. A couple of times he came over my way crashing dwon on me and jamming the mike in my face expecting me to say something profound. All I could think of to say was "yea". He gave me that possessed man look for what seemed like an eternity and then he returned to the stage. They ended their set with a great version of "Hey Joe" and then returned for another couple song set. It was totally nuts.
