Lungfish/the Ex/Fugazi

12.04.99...Electric Factory Philadelphia, PA

This was a fun night. After parking at the Electric Factory, I was hassled by a parking attendant because I did not park correctly, and then he expected a tip. Which he did not get. After I got in, I wandered around for a bit trying to find someone I knew (I bumped into a couple of people), and then found a good spot to watch Lungfish, who came out about 30 minutes later. Their set was similar to last year when I saw them open for Fugazi. Not really my thing. The Ex was next and they played straightforward, driving rock. They were pretty good, although not someone I would make it a point to see.

Fugazi finally made their way out after a long way and burst their way into “Arpeggiator”, and then started to play “Place Position” before halting the song immediately. Apparently some guy in the crowd was swinging his fists, and Ian wanted him out, which I can understand. After that fiasco, the set contiuned on without a hitch. They played a longer than the other times I’ve seen them, doing two encores. Another reat show by one of the premier bands out there.

Songs played (the ones I remember at least): Waiting Room, Break, Recap Modotti, Five Corporations, Birthday Pony, Back to Base, No Surprise, Do You Like Me, Caustic Acrostic, Closed Captioned, Bed for the Searching, and Forensic Scene.
