I had heard about the 9:30 Club before, but I had never actually been there. The plan was to go and see Yo La Yengo and two other bands that I didn't particualrly like. I got there early (as usual) and waited for the doors to open. And waited. While I was waiting I started talking to a couple of people near me that were also patiently waiting (yeah right--the indie kids might start a riot). They were cool (umm Jason, Chad, and a girl who didn't offer her name). We played drop the indie references until the owner came out and said that the club had lost power and they were trying to regain it. So, we waited a little more until the owner came back out and told us that they couldn't get the power back, but Yo La Tengo felt sorry and they decided that they were going to play a small acoustic set in the back alley! Woo hoo!!!! It was totally priceless...they played six or seven songs in the confines of the small little DC alley in the seedy section of town. Afterwards they thanked us all for our patience and told us that the show would be rescheduled in August or September. I can not wait!
