The WIN TV rally in the Valley was a great event to start the year off with. The weather was fantastic and the roads phenomenal; particularly the Loy Yang open cut roads. After a DNF early in the event last year the team was keen for a good result. Our tactics were simple, go flat out right from the start and we did. Our only problem for the event was being seeded behind an old Austin Land Crab running in the historic class. We caught him in most stages. Unfortunately due to the heavy dust he couldn't see us which meant we were unable to get past him. This cost us a lot of time during the event. After much complaining we were re-seeded for the night stages. No doubt this cost us first place in our class. The night stages were just as fast and just as much fun. With large crowds at every spectator point and coverage on the local WIN TV channel our sponsors got a great return for their greatly appreciated dollars. Development done on the car over the Christmas break had given us quite a bit more speed. We finished 17th outright and 2nd in our class. Not a bad start for the year.
