This is one of the prettiest early June perennials called the common PEONIA or Peony. pronounced(pee-OHN-yah).It's a full sun plant and grows in zones 3-8 easily. This one is treated a wee bit different than the other I have told you about. You plant them in soil a temperature of between18-22C(64-72F).They take 30 to 60 days to come up. After they have sprouted they want to be cold for 8 weeks.This by either outside or in your fridge. Do not let them dry out though.Plastic bags are always handy for keeping in moisture.Be sure to open them once in awhile for fresh air to get in.
Papavers or commonly known as poppies are some of the prettiest colors going today. This one is Papaver orientale (pah_PAVE-er).They are grown mostly in zones 3-8 and are another sun lover.To start their seeds sprinkle lightly on top of the soil. the best temperature is 16-22C(61-72F).Being fast sprouters they should be up in 10-15 days.
Penstemon (PEN-stih-min)come in a wide varieties of sizes and colors also. They will come up between 14-35 days once planted if they have a temperature of between 13-20C(55-68F). Most Penstemon like zones 5-9 and full sun.
This is called Garden Phlox.They grow in zones 3-8 in sun or partial shade. After sowing the seeds they need 4 weeks of cold and then a warm temperature of between 18-22C(64-72F) they should come up between 21-35 days.A mature plant is about 3ft.tall and a fast multiplier.
