BANGKOK 6-20 December '1998

Bangkok has hosted three previous stagings of the Asian Games and the city isexperienced in organizing international sports events.Bangkok is a popular venue; dynamic economics growth contrasting with a serene cultural heritage; modern hotels and office buildings blended into a landscape of golden temples and a network of canals. It is one of Asia's favorite tourist destinations, with top-class facilities to match. The organizing committee of the 1998 Asian Games is essentially the same as the committee who were responsible for a successful 1995 South East Asian Games in Chiang Mai. It has been re-formed to oversee the running of the 1998 event. BAGOC has the full support of the Thai Government and the sports community. It will handle all the logistical aspects of this huge sports event and its associated cultural festival.
