Pink Lady's-SlipperCypripedium acauleThis common, yet protected wild Orchid blossoms in the Spring. Its paired basal leaves and deeply cleft pink pouch are distinctive characteristics. It will often grow for several years before sending up its single flower stalk. It is found in open shady areas in oak or pine woods, and like most wild orchids, requires specific soil micro-organisms in order to thrive. |
