CHILD CRAFT
Raising a
child in the Pagan way can be a difficult thing in today's world.
This page is for the children and their parents who have chosen to walk
this path. Submissions of
ideas, advice, workings, experiences, etc. are always welcome.
Corn Dolls
Corn dolls are cool to make for Lammas.
First, get some corn from the
store that still has the leaves on it. Peel the corn and save the
leaves after you eat the corn.
Dry the leaves with a paper towel
and leave them out for a day or so 'til they are almost dry, but still
bendy.
Now take the biggest leaves and
make the body/leg part of the doll. Do this like the Wicker Man from
last time. If you want your doll to have a skirt, tie extra leaves
onto the bottom part. You can tie the doll parts with yarn or else
use skinny strips of the leaves to do it.
Then make arms for the doll and
tie them across the body part.
Let the whole doll dry out all
the way in the sun.
Now you can put a face on it with
markers or yarn. You can decorate it up with sparkles, sequins, or
whatever you want to too.
If you can't find corn with leaves,
you can get corn husks from the Mexican food part of the store. Soak
the husks in water until they are bendy, and then go from there.
When the doll is all done, put
it up on the altar for Lammas!
Have fun!
