Welcome to the Crone's
Corner. This page is dedicated to the Crone's art of herbalism.
Recipes may be either healing or magikal in nature. However, none
of the recipes are to be taken as a prescription or used in the place of
proper medical treatment. If you have a favorite recipe or are looking
for one, email
me. _________________________________________________________________
Our
editrix said the subject for the month was "harvest, corn, that type of
thing" so I've gone a bit corn crazy. Here are two recipes using
the wonderful grain of the new world.
Grind together 1/2 cup cornmeal and 1/4 cup mint leaves. Mix with a little water or witch hazel. Scrub the areas around the nose, chin and forehead. Let dry. Leave on for 30 minutes. Rinse with warm water mixed with honey and then with plain warm water.
If you are ever out camping for a long period of time without access to good water, this is a great way to get at least some of the oils and dirt out of your hair. It is also light and easy to carry.
Mix 1 part
cornmeal with one eighth part corn starch. Place mixture on head
and work around on scalp thoroughly with fingers. Brush out vigorously.
In a pinch, straight cornmeal will do too.
