Welcome to the Crone's Corner.  This page is dedicated to the Crone's art of herbalism.  Recipes may be either healing or magikal in nature.  However, none of the recipes are to be taken as a prescription or used in the place of proper medical treatment.  If you have a favorite recipe or are looking for one,  email me. _________________________________________________________________
While you can make your own soap, it takes time and some practice to get it right.  The following recipe use Castile soap (available at most health food stores) and bypasses you making your own soap base.

Complexion Soap
Mix: 3 oz. of orris root
       .5 oz. of cypress
        2 oz. of calendula
        1 oz of rose petals
        2 oz of lavender flowers
Beat all these together to a fine powder in a mortar or with an herb grinder and sieve through a fine sieve.  Scrape 1 lb. Castile soap or use Ivory flakes into another bowl.  Dissolve the soap with  about 1 pint of rose water, then mix all your powder into the dissolved soap.  Mix very well with a wooden spoon.  Spoon soap into a wet wooden box lined with a wet tea towel.  Let dry for 4-8 hours.  Tip out soap and cut into bars or form into balls.  Store in a cool dry place 4-8 weeks to cure.
You can add 1 oz of powdered gum bezoin to keep the soap from darkening.
