What better way to greet the returning Sun than with the sweet smell of
your own homemade incense? Incense is easy to make, clears the winter
mustiness from rooms and can lend a very personal touch to your Circle
workings.
Following is the recipe for an "all occasion" incense as well as a recipe
specific to the Yuletide season. Enjoy!
Ingredients:
4 parts
Frankincense
1/2 part Rose Petals
2 parts
Myrrh
1/4 part Rosemary
1 part
Sandalwood
1/2 part Cinnamon
1/4 part Bay Leaves
Grind all
ingredients, combine and mix thoroughly. If you can buy the frankincense
and myrrh already ground, it is most helpful as resins can be difficult
to grind. If not, use your mortar and pestle or the modern witches
equivalent, the herb grinder. If you can't find sandalwood, is is
ok to grind up some incense cones in that scent.
2 parts
Frankincense
2 parts Pine needles or resin
1 part
Cedar wood or needles
1 part Juniper berries
Prepare
as above. Burn at Yule and throughout the winter to cleanse the house.
Remember
to keep your incense in airtight containers.
