Dear Lord,

I come to You today with a prayer for myself and for our country. As I look at the world around me, I see so many terrible things occurring and so many people being wronged.

Our society as a whole is falling apart from moral decay. I watch the news and see crimes going unpunished, people not taking responsibility for their actions.

We have become lazy in our responsibilities and found that it is easier to blame others for our mistakes. Lord, I see the effect it is having on our children and their perceptions of this world. It scares me! I look at my daughter and try to see things through her eyes. I want to protect her from the evils of this world but I know I can't shelter her from it all. I want her to be aware of the realities of this world and to want to make a difference for the better.

Lord, I pray that You will help me/us to teach our children Your ways.

Help us to raise them with good morals and Christian values so that we can make a positive difference in this world. Also, help us to practice what we teach and set a good example for others.

Let Christ shine through us!
