The Great Adventure The time was short the time was sweet, As I tried to stand up on my feet. I was going to be like a child, And try to get a little wild. I put on the rollerblades all snug and tight, Thought I would venture into the night. When all of a sudden I was looking at stars, My head felt like I had just landed on mars. A wonderful bump did appear on my head, Two by three inches, I thought I was dead. There stood Mary laughing so hard, asking if I was ok, I laid there too scared to move, thinking NO WAY. SO into the house holding my head I did go, Trying real hard to not let the tears show. I went to the freezer and got out the ice, When it began to throb I thought NO DICE. SO off to the Hospital Mary and I went, And now on to the Great adventure. Now read on to part two, In a Hospital for 3 hours and nuttin but trouble to get into.Part Two
Now the fun really begins, as they say I need urgent care, Meanwhile I sit for three hours before anyone was there. So needless to say the pain was severe, So Mary and I decided to spread some cheer. We walked the halls and giggled with tears in my eyes, Tears from laughing with the pain on the rise. Finally We were pulled into our own little room, Where my head was swelling and looked like a ballooon. So at the desk the nurse did say, Don't you know about helmets (the proper way) Well of course I do, but I didn't expect to fall, I used to rollerskate after all. She says now tell me what gear you should wear, I said a helmet and kneepads and a pillow down there. The longer I sat the more I was in pain, And in walks the Dr. and calls me the wrong name I ran to the desk to the Dr and Nurse, And begged them to change my name so I could be seen first. Then the Dr. comes in and tells me to stand, While holding my chin with his hand. What more could I do than try to bite, The hand that was causing me pain that night. Now laughter broke out once again, And in the room we were told to remain. So we sat and waited and bothered the nurse, She laughed so hard because of my curse. I waited for the x-ray department to call, And next thing I know I'm back in the hall. Heading back to my Little room, Waiting to hear of the doom and gloom. Came home and had a tea and laughed some more, Just read part three to find out more.
Part Three
Ah now I am home kids are concerned, Wanted to find out what Mom had learned. I learned to Laugh in spite of the pain, That made it much easier to not complain. Then this morning I tell Ron of this tale, And boy did he ever laugh and wail. And next my dear sister Diane did call, To laugh at my adventure although so small. I have to say it felt so good to laugh, Even if laughing at my behalf. Now here I sit, or at least I try, Thinking of laying and seeing stars in the sky. I really thought I had passed out, For I saw stars without a doubt. Now Thank you all for reading about my pain, And I know you will laugh at my new name. Ron named me Thumper and laugh he did, Knowing I hurt more than my head. Judy ©1999
The Panic
The people like sardines packed in a can, Make it almost impossible for me to stand. My throat is closing I need air, Just show me an exit anywhere. People stop and look as if piercing through my soul, Need to find a place to hide, just put me in a hole. Can you not see what you do to me, Fill me with panic I want no others to see. Heart pounding, waiting to explode within, Why did I go, Can I ever win? Look around what do I see? Lots of faces coming towards me. My mind says run get out of here, Don't let those people come so near. Pushing as if in a stampede, An Escape is what I seek and need. Will I never learn to stay, Away from Malls where people play. Calming down is hard to do, When I can't escape you. Judy©1999 Pedaling My Butt I am sure you ladies will get the drift, About the owwwie you get from pedaling swift. Now it has been years since I rode a bike, I be thinking it might be easier to hike. Cause that darn seat used to fit many years ago, But for some reason it disappeared and hurt my "pride" so! Now picture two ladies proud as can be, Riding around for all to see. Now picture the park sunny and hot, And now picture that tender "pride" spot. Bouncing up and down the trails, Letting out tremendous wails. Laughter was abundent and heard, By all the little squirrels and the birds. But in between the laughter were the moans, As the bike seemed to hit all the stones. Oww Oww Oww was the words you would hear, If you happened to be walking near. Now two hours have passed and its plain to see, That riding a bike cannot be pain free. So tomorrow we will venture out again, And I fear when the owies will begin. A gel seat I can see in my future, Cause I don't know how much my "pride" can endure!! Poetry Index Please sign the new dream book, Top One!!
