Helping Hand...
a scared child
crying soundless tears
in the dark she sits
looking out a window
yet seeing nothing
her eyes, deep blue
pools of emotion
hiding nothing from any
if they would look deep enough
shimmering with tears
but she will not let them fall
a silent oath
painfully kept
they will not see her cry
she denies them that joy
those that feed on her on her tears
a plastic smile
so fragile, so fake
curving her lips
the mask she hides behind
one looks upon her... sees her
past the mask, the hurt, the pain
looking deeper, searching
sensing what lies beneath
he reaches out his hand
she shies away, wary
he holds out his hand again
a challenge in his eyes
she sees it... she accepts it
taking his hand
slowly.. gently.. he pulls her up
through the pain
past the hurt
beyond her fears
shedding her mask,
he sees her for who she is
liking what he sees... liking her...just as she is...

Emotions and Helping Hand were both written for a man that played an amazing
role in my life for the 1st half of this year... he helped me to realize
that I was someone special... that maybe my self-image wasn't very healthy..
or acurate... his gentle touch and passionate love helped me to begin the
painful process of letting go of the hurts of my past... to look deeper into
myself and see the good in me... I owe him more than he will ever truly know..
