Quoth the (ravin'?) poet: 'Zomboid and mummoid'!
Writes Poet X of PDX:
"I wrote a poem back in the mid-'80s, the first line of which is 'Zomboid and mummoid' — by which I meant zombie-like and mummy-like, perhaps emotionally.
"Thought I made the words up. Just Googled 'zomboid' and found mention of a song with that title by a (foreign?) band I've never heard of. The band seems to have a penchant for questionable lyrics. Also found a single, likely obscure, mention that the word is slang for drunk.
"Searching for 'mummoid,' I came up with one (!) non-link link. I did make up a word! (The poem, 'Pocketsworth,' has been posted to my Web site for at least five years, but Google didn't find it there. I think the poem also was published by The Evergreen Chronicles.)"
