PLEASE RELEASE ME!

From Poet X of PDX: 

"I have a new, work-induced earworm.

"My mental list of things to check before hitting 'Enter' and sending the bills I've prepared off to their next electronic watering hole includes a client phone number, not always included. 'No phone,' the voice in my head will sometimes say. Another voice just inches away will respond: 'No lights! No motor cars! Not a single luxury!'

"I'm new enough at the job that the earworm is amusing, but I'll be sick of it soon."

PLEASE RELEASE ME!

Writes Doris Day: "I was not familiar with the phrase that had earwormed Poet X of PDX ('No phone, No lights! No motor cars! Not a single luxury!'). As I kept rereading it, hoping it would come to me, I was rewarded with an earworm of my own: 'No phone, no pool, no pets. I ain't got no cigarettes. Two hours of pushin' brooms ….' "
