What are Pokémon?

Pokémon is a Game Boy game released in Japan in 1995. Recently, it has been released in the North America. In Japan, Pokémon is very popular and has sold eight million paks of the game. There are card games, candy, bubble baths, etc. There is even a television show that is currently airing. most of the things that are Pokémon based in Japan are heading towards North America.

In the game,  you play a young eleven year old boy (we'll call him Ash, one of his default names and his name on the cartoon) who has just received his Pokémon license. Ash's goal is to capture and train all 150 Pokémon and to defeat the eight Pokémon Gym leaders to get their badges. There is also some a team named Team Rocket who catch Pokémon and use them for evil.

Capturing all 150 Pokémon is not an easy task, as some of them are rare and there are two different versions (in North America, Japan has more). Each version has the same game, but a slightly different set of Pokémon (e.g.- in the red version, Weedle is very common, but in the blue it is much more difficult to find). Each version has 139 Pokémon and in order to capture them all you must trade with someone who has the other version.

Finally, there are two ways to capture Pokémon. One way is to weaken them out and capture them in a Pokéball. This way seems to be better because these Pokémon are easier to control. The other way is to trade them. These Pokémon are known as outsiders. They evolve much quicker than normal Pokémon and are harder to control.
