Alrighty is the first release for Perth’s Jed Whitey, who play a mix between fuzzed out stoner rock and hard hitting slug rock. I’ve heard the band being compared to a cross between Fu Manchu and Electric Frankenstein, which is pretty accurate. Unfortunately, the sound on this record is atrocious and sounds like it was recorded in a toilet. (I suppose that’s what you get if you literally only spend $20 on recording...) This means that no matter how good the songs are, they sound shit anyway, which is a real shame because there are some good songs, especially Arooga! Arooga! and Poindexter Quigley. Luckily I’ve seen the band live and know how powerful they can be. It’s a pity that Alrighty bares no resemblance to this
