Capitol City, a relatively young Perth band who play their own style of swampy
garage music, have been jamming with drummer James Baker, himself formerly a member
of The Scientists and Beasts Of Bourbon, who no doubt were strong influences
on Capitol City themselves. I'm pretty sure that the band are currently working on
their debut album but don't expect anything in the near future. However, you can you can

P76 are about to begin recording their long overdue debut album for Zip records,
which follows two highly regarded ep's as well as four previous ep releases with
Jericho. The album will be produced by no other than Dom Mariani and
hopefully will be released by the end of the year.

Sydney pop band, Youth Group release their debut album, Urban And Eastern
today (May 14th) through Ivy League Records. As an added bonus, all copies ordered through
the band's webpage come with an extra disc, Coming Up After the Break, which
features an additional 6 tracks.

The Icecream Hands latest EP is called Rain Hail Shine, which will be
released on the 2nd of July and features four new tracks and one old track from the ICH
archives circa 1995.

Last week Jack & The Beanstalk released their second album, Cowboys In Sweden,
through the American pop label, Parasol Records. The band will launching it on July 6th at
the Amplifier Bar in Perth, with Joe Algeri making the trip all the way from Sweden,
where he has been busy producing and writing songs as well as playing the odd gig. For

Perth pop band, Splinta now have a new lead singer in the form of Andrew
Allingham (ex Beanbag) leaving Steven Mancini to concentrate on playing the guitar.

Splinta will also be one of many bands contributing to an upcoming Stems
tribute album. Other artists include Superscope, P76, The Finkers,
Ashley Naylor>B, The Icecream Hands and more. More details when they come to hand.

Even will be releasing their third album, A Different High, on May 14th. As
with their other two albums, it will be released through Rubber Records. They are currently
touring the country in support of The Dandy Warhols.

The Hard-Ons are currently touring throughout Europe and the UK promoting their
latest album, This Terrible Place, which has been released on the Swedish label,
Bad Taste Records. The record is also due for a domestic release in the US with the band
confirmed to tour there, as well as in New Zealand and South America before the end of the
year.

After the success of the Blood Red River reissue, Kim Salmon recently
revealed that the The Scientists will be also re-releasing The Human Jukebox
and the legendary 'Pink' album.

Johnny Spittles, lead guitarist for Asteroid B-612, is about to embark on a two
month tour of the United States with former Charlatans and Flamin' Groovies guitarist
Mike Wilheim and together they are planning to record an album.

Perth 'Stoner garage' band, Fourstroke, will be out action for a while as their
lead singer Simon Stefanoff, will be moving to live in Sydney. There are plans for the
band to reunite over east later in the year. In the meantime, lead guitarist Luke Margetic
will be playing with Jed Whitey.
The two bands are also about to be releasing a split LP. The CD will come out on Sydney's
Highbeam Music label while there will be a very limited 12" vinyl pressing of 150 copies
on Brain Defect Records. Jed Whitey are also planning a split 7" release with US
punk rockers Ironboss and are currently recording their debut LP, Mongoloid Cage Match,
which will feature cover art courtesy of The Hard-Ons' Ray Ahn.

The Monarchs have finished recording their as yet un-named debut album, which has
