Tag Team 7 Inch - The Pyramidiacs

Label:Hellfire Club Records (France)
Released:1999
Tracks:I Can’t Hide
Waiting
Pretend
Through Any Window

Rating: 5/5

Lets cut to the chase here. The first single on this EP, I Can’t Hide, is one of the best power pop songs that I’ve heard in a long, long time. Loud, powerful guitars, stunning harmonies and a chorus brilliantly stolen from a famous Beatles song can only lead to pop nirvana. Waiting is another cool, upbeat pop song with catchy background vocals that is almost over before it has begun.

Flip the record over and you get another A-class pop gem in Pretend, which covers the universal themes of girls and cars at the same time. Rarely do a bunch of guitar chords sound so right. The final song, Open Every Window, is a Posies cover and is the weakest song on this EP, which is a testament to the talent of the Pyramidiacs. This release deservedly puts the Pyramidiacs up there with DM3, Orange Humble Band and The Chevelles as one of Australia’s best power pop bands. Investigate immediately.
