¶ In a final, majestic hail to the chief on Friday, June 11, 2004, the people of the UNITED STATES and the world bade a lingering goodbye to PRESIDENT RONALD REAGAN first at a service at the Washington [DC] National Cathedral and finally at the Ronald Reagan Presidenial Library in Simi Valley, California.

¶ "HE IS HOME NOW. HE IS FREE," Ron Reagan said in his father's eulogy at the burial service.

¶ ON GOVERNMENT: "Government is not the solution, it's the problem." Inaugural address, January 20, 1981

¶ ON THE USSR: "If you seek peace, if you seek prosperity for the Soviet Union and Eastern Europe, if you seek liberalization, come here to this gate .. open this gate ... tear down this wall." In Berlin, Remarks addresed to Soviet leader Mikhall Gorbachev (who attended the Washington service ).

¶ ON BERUIT: "Sending the marines to Beruit was the source of my greatest regret and my greatest sorrow." About the Lebanon bombing that killed 241 servicemen in 1983.
