(if applicable): n/a -Birthdate:August 10 -Height: 5'9" -Weight: 170 lb -Eyes (colour and shape): an unremarkable brown with a slight squint as if he is suspicious of you, yet a compassionate feeling is what people feel lurking behind his stare. -Build: strong, muscular, though not powerfully built. -Complexion: a slight tan, because Duneman usually go covered head to foot when out in the sun. Duneman usually develope their brief tan at an early age when they would be careless and play around, but would get somewhat lighter as they, when they are older, cover themselves totally to shield themselves out in the hot sun, and burning sands. -Facial Features: also unremarkable, ordinary, yet could be called slightly handsome, thanks to his mother. Both sons of Yahshan secretly thank their mother that they did not inherit their father's larger nose. He is beginning to develope a slight stubble, and is debating whether or not to shave it off. -Identifying Marks: normally unseen, but on his back are 10 whiplash scars. -Hair (colour and style): dark, almost half brown/black. His hair is short, a necessity since a Duneman cowl and scarf already limits visibility. -Voice: gentle, yet commanding. As befitting the son of a Clan Chief. -Dress/Attire: Duneman shirt and trousers, utilitarian style. It is loose over the arms and legs to prevent too much heat accumulating, but is snugly fit at the wrist and ankle to prevent sand from getting in. He has a pair of boots and a belt made from the hide of a Sand Worm. The boots are calf length, and is tightly cinched at the top to prevent loose sand coming inside. Over all of this, is the Duneman kah'far, made from the hide of the Sand Shark. An encompassing cloak with a hood or cowl, and plenty of pockets to carry food, and equipment. Everything is colored to blend in with the sand of course. He also has a Duneman scarf that wraps around the mouth and nose and when necessary, the eyes during a sandstorm. -Jewelry (if any): Carries a thin gold chain, with a white jade pendant etched in the form of a Lotus on it, and is hidden inside his shirt. The back of the pendant is etched with the name "Yuko" -Weapons/Tools (if any): A short slightly curved, single edged Duneman sword, belted behind his lower back so it doesn't hinder movement. The hilt is sticking a little out behind his waist for a quick unsheathing if necessary. A sharp hunting knife tucked into his left boot, an old 12 clip handgun with only a spare clip and a half. The handgun is tucked in his belt on his left side. Also has a remarkable good rifle slung over his shoulder. Has a box of ammo for the rifle. Duneman are notoriously fond of sniping, which is much safer when hunting Sand Worms. Carries two small canteens of water, a few days supply of dried meat, and a small flashlight with the words "Property of the Government of Kislev" on the side. Has no spare batteries. -Armour (if any): none, besides his clothes. -Personality: Had been hard, assertive, and demanding because of his reponsibility as the son of the clan chief, but since falling for an Outsider, he has been somewhat reticent, and doubting his very role in the world. Though Duneman have a quirky sense of humor, it is rarely shown to Outsiders. He feels burdened by his responsibility and since the death of Yuko, has been somewhat withdrawn and questions the prejudice of the Clans toward Outsiders. -Background and History: The eldest son of Yahshan, Jaeynar proved to be the pride and joy of the Shar'anzo Clan. Jaeynar seems adept at everything he does, even piloting a Gear. Duneman Clans have few Gears and those are extremely precious. Only Duneman warriors who show aptitude for piloting a Gear are even allowed to touch one (besides the technicians and engineers of course), and not even the son of a Clan Chief could use one if he showed no aptitude for it. A Duneman Gear pilot is the second most honorable position in a Clan, behind only that of the Clan Chief. And Jaeynar, being a Gear pilot and the heir to the Clan, has double status within the Clan and the most sought after husband by power hungry Dunewomen. Jaeynar refused them all, and would rather enjoy leading raiding or hunting parties. Most Duneman prefer the thrill and joy of having a successful raid or hunt. Whether it is a raid or hunt, Duneman tactics are the same. To lie in wait for however long it takes for the prey to get into the right position to be taken down. Duneman warriors take pride in laying absolutely still for long periods as the Sand Worm, Shark, or occasional caravan and Outsider Gears go by, only to be suprised by an attack from behind. Jaeynar seems destined to be the best Shar'anzo Clan Chief since Fal'zar the Great, who united the nomads of the Western Sands. All of this changed when Jaeynar and his party miracously captured a Shevat Reconnaissance Gear. Jaeynar and his party had encountered tracks made by a fast moving Gear and had followed it for nearly a week. The pilot had moved too fast and had underestimated the heat generated by the sand, and had overheated her Gear. The inexperienced pilot parked her Gear behind a small dune for shade, but had completely turned off all power, even those to the radar and sensor systems. Jaeynar easily snucked up behind the Shevat pilot, who was busy sweeping sand off the optical arrays. The Gear and pilot was captured and brought back to Ta'shal, where the pilot, Yuko, was interrogated on the function and performance of her Gear, the only known Shevat Gear in all the Duneman Clans. As Jaeynar was the one to capture Yuko and the Gear, he had the fortune of claiming her Gear as his own. In order to find out more about the many functions of the new Gear, Jaeynar often came to the prisoner's tent to question Yuko himself. At first, Yuko was reluctant to volunteer any information, but quickly realized that the Duneman people had no such thing as prisoner exchange or conventions. As long as she was useful as a source of information, she was kept alive. So she tried to be as useful as possible, but her conversations with Jaeynar turned into something more. She found out that she enjoyed their talk and his presence, and would often volunteer information just to keep the young heir in the tent a little longer. Jaeynar also began to experience funny sensation when he "interrogated" the prisoner, and noticed that many of his later talks didn't concern anything about the Gear. Two months after her capture, Yuko realized her true feelings for Jaeynar and that very night when he came to have his now daily talk, she gave him her jade pendant and professed her love for him. But before Jaeynar could respond, his father and a couple of guards bursted in and dragged Yuko out, while a resisting Jaeynar was knocked unconcious. At dawn the next day, Jaeynar was given 10 lashes with a whip for "breaking" faith with the Clan by dallying with an Outsider. Later, his father refused to answer any of his questions about the fate of Yuko and threatened more lashes if Jaeynar didn't forget this nonsense, but Jaeynar already knew what had happened. What inevitably happens to every Outsider who outlived their usefulness: they were killed and their body dragged out to be reclaimed by the desert or it's denizens. Despite the pain on his back, Jaeynar snuck out every night to search for Yuko. On the third night, he found her. She had had her throat cut and was already! lightly picked on by carrion, but Jaeynar ignored everything and collapsed by her side, cupped her face, and did something no adult Duneman would ever do in this water scarce environment. He cried. -Birthplace: Ta'shal, home of the Shar'anzo Clan. The only clan that isn't entirely nomadic. Located somewhere on the Western Sands of Ignas. A prime location because of Nisan and Aveh traffic, and occasional Kislev incursions. -Mother:Jalena el Ishana of the Pasha Clan, (age)40 -Father:Yahshan al Fahsaa, Clan Chief of the Shar'anzo, 43. -Siblings:Younger Brother, Yoseff al Yahshan, 17. -Mate: none -Children: none -Other relations: Uncle: Dharak al Bareff, Clan Chief of the Pasha, 47. Aunt: Ishana el Ileysha (mother's side), 42. Amaya el Sasha (father's side, husband deceased), 34 Cousins: Liden al Dharak (heir of the Pasha) 26 Roshan al Dharak, 19 Ri'asha el Amaya 15 (father's side) -Affiliation: Primary: Shar'anzo Clan, Secondary: Pasha Clan, Tertiary: Duneman Clans. -Secondary Skills: As a Gear pilot, he has some skills in Gear repair and such. Pretty handy with tools. Could imitate the sound of a Sand Shark, which is useless except for hunting the Sand Worms. -Abilities/Disabilities (in addition to Ether): Duneman Clans have no way to test or train for Ether abilities, so any Ether abilities are unknown. -Hobbies: Likes to compose....Desert Haiku! =P -Current residence: Ta'shal, a large collection of tents and some city-type buildings. The largest and probably only Duneman "city". -Current Life Conflicts: Questions Duneman prejudice toward Outsiders. -Deathblows (name and function): [Arcana's note: I recommend leaving the Deathblows section blank when applying.] -Other notes: None at this moment. -Gear name: Jade is etched inside the cockpit, and is probably Yuko's name for her Gear. Jaeynar decided to keep the name in her memory. -Gear model: Shevat Special Reconnaissance Gear Mark II -Height: pretty tall -Weight: pretty heavy -Gear description: modified Shevat Reconnaissance Gear. Only modification are enhancements for desert use. Has been repainted to blend in with the desert. Looks sleek and agile, basically your typical Recon Gear. -Class: Reconaissance Gear. -Primary function: Reconnaissance. Modified for sniping and desert travel -Weapon(s): A captured Aveh Gear Rifle, which has 6 Rounds. Has two spare clips in leg compartment. A large strip of Sand Worm leather is tied to the butt and the front of rifle, enabling it to be slung over the shoulder. -Abilities/Disabilities: Has the latest technology for tracking units, ECM's, jamming equipment, superb communications and sensors. Unfortunately, it isn't built with any weapons, though it does have a minilaser on the left wrist. The minilaser seems more geared toward making repairs, cutting, and welding than an actual weapon, but theoretically it could cut a man in half. Though fast and agile, has little armor. -How your character acquired the gear: Captured. {see above}
