Pager/etc. (if applicable): AIM: Ruakichan, Valgarv, HolmcrossX, KenKenNoDa Character Information --------------------- -Name: Rivian Spellbinder (real surname: Fatima) -Age: 17 -Sex: M -Occupation(s): Bard and thief -Substitutes which Xenogears Character? (if applicable): Bartholomew Fatima -Birthdate: (November 7) -Height: 5'9" -Weight: 130 lbs -Eyes (colour and shape): Long-lashed "Fatima Jasper" eyes, slightly rounded -Build: Broad shoulders, slim about the waist -Complexion: Bronzed almost to the point of chestnut -Facial Features: One word: androgynous; but with a masculine tilt to the chin and brow (looks a lot like his mother, in fact) -Identifying Marks: A small tattoo under the corner of right eye depicting a crescent moon and rayed sun surrounded by four six-pointed stars (the tattoo of the nomad tribe he was raised by) -Hair (colour and style): The color is so black that it's indigo, worn to his waist with a small sash tied near the end. A small braid in his hair hangs by the side of his face jauntily, decorated with beads and a scarlet feather. -Voice: A light tenor, vibrant, rollicking, and smooth -Dress/Attire: Travel worn, but well made: emerald green trousers of supple cotton; a long-sleeved loose white shirt belted with a black sash, end hanging free; a long, dark purple vest of silk, decorated with black knotted ribbons and scarlet beads; and black calf-high leather boots. A lute hangs on his back from a simple baldric, a flute at his belt. -Jewelry (if any): Thick silver bracers on each forearm, Celtic knotted; simple armbands on each upper arm; multiple piercings up each ear lobe, filled with hoops, studs, and earcuffs -Weapons/Tools (if any): Throwing blades, two dirks, garrote a stiletto, and lockpick/thieves' kit -Personality: An easy-going, flamboyant free-spirit, whose love for gambles and fun makes him a risk-taker to the extreme (and often the only reason he's alive now is that Luck seems to have taken a liking to him). Extremely irresponsible, somewhat flighty with hedonistic twinges, and a bit selfish, he can seem very warm one moment and utterly arrogant the next, making him a rather dubious companion. His sudden mood swings, from happy-go-lucky to conniving and cold, gives off a rather unstable appearance. He's never cruel, unless warranted, but is highly melodramatic and theatrical, conning people out of their money rather than beating them for it. He utterly despises the higher social class, and never misses an opportunity to ruin their peace (often in the form of conning and stealing), and they are the most likely targets of his piracy. -Favorite Creed/Quote: "There's no fun in money. It's the way I get it that's exciting!" -Background and History: Born as the third son of King Cyril Fatima of Aveh, Rivian lived a happy life as a prince in the palace at Bledavik. He got along well with many, but was firm friends with the Prime Minister's son, Durant; and the family knight. However, when he was of four years of age, the coup of Aveh by the Minister of State Takeil Feizar left the entire Fatima family wiped out to the child, minus Rivian. The boy was whisked away, unconscious, by the family knight during the foray, and the two disappeared into the desert. The knight left the child in the care of a nomad tribe (who are take in orphans often), but revealed no truth about Rivian's identity. The knight then disappeared soon after the boy regained consciousness. Rivian, however, contracted amnesia during the coup and is unable to recall any events before his acceptance into the nomad tribe. While living with his new people, Rivian endured hardship and poverty, as compared to his forgotten existence as royalty. However, he persevered, becoming stronger in the end, but gaining an air of whimiscality and confidence that he can make it through anything. He was very popular among the nomad tribe for his musical talents and thus was given the surname of "Spellbinder" (for the knight had only identified the boy as "Rivian"), but he was notorious for his love of risks (of which he would always escape, if barely, unscathed) and stealing. At age twelve, Rivian caught the wanderlust bug, and left the tribe to start his search for the "ultimate adventure" and has been wandering ever since. Recently, however, his amnesia has been starting to plague him, and he has constantly "flashes" of occurences in his forgotten past that he neither understands or even wants to contemplate, since he doesn't care what happened to him "back then". -Birthplace: Aveh (Bledavik) -Mother: Marian Fatima (maiden name: ap Cedwellyn, daughter to Cyril's general) -Father: King Cyril Fatima II -Siblings: Josua (1st), Seth (2nd), and Miriam (4th)--all presumed deceased following the coup of Aveh -Mate: None -Children: None -Other relations: The family knight, name ???: Rivian remembers very little about the man who had rescued him from the regicide in Aveh. The knight had disappeared after leaving Rivian in the care of a nomad tribe. FOR NOTE ONLY: As a note to the creators, the personal knight's identity has finally been hammered out by the authors (NOT THE CHARACTER). His name is Alain Fatima, younger brother to King Cyril Fatima. As par tradition, male siblings not in occupancy of the throne become the family knights, personal guardians of the heirs to the Fatima throne. RIVIAN DOES NOT KNOW THE IDENTITY OF HIS SAVIOR YET. Durant Baum Feizar: The son of the Prime Minister, Takeil Feizar, who initiated the coup that overthrew the rightful king of Aveh, Cyril Fatima II. The two, in their younger years at the palace, were fast and firm friends, spending all time together. However, as with the mysterious knight, Rivian recalls nothing of his time with Durant, who is now the ruler of Aveh after the death of Takeil. Marien Annwfyn: A mysterious man who he had met in a prison cell in Bledavik palace, after his capture during a ship raid. Rivian tends to treat Mari with a teasing disrespect, calling him "Mary Anne" and "ol' geezer." They're not truly friends, but neither enemies... Rivian believes that Marien is his key to his "greatest adventure." -Secondary Skills: Rivian is an extraordinary thief, who often just pickpockets to keep in touch with his skills (see Fav. Quote). He's also a bard of no small skill in various instruments and a modest master of mimicry and ventriloquism. -Abilities/Disabilities: Luck!! *Lots* of it, almost magical in nature. (ie: he can stand outside during a horrible lightning storm with a twenty foot metal pole and never once be struck by lightning). However, his luck does sometimes fail him, but never to the extent that his life is in danger. Rivian is not conscious of his enormous capacity for luck, so he does not knowingly depend on it. (ie: he won't willingly jump off a cliff for no apparent reason and just rely on his luck to get him out somehow). Deathblows: None, currently. He's not a hardened warrior yet. -Hobbies: Music (instruments: voice, zither, lute, flute, panpipes), stealing, gambling (lots of it), travelling the world without a care in his Yggdrasil searching for the "ultimate adventure" while robbing unlucky upper class citizens of everything they have -Current residence: Nowhere and anywhere. Home is where the fun is. -Current Life Conflicts: Usurped from the throne of Aveh (amnesia regarding his royal heritage), several high gambling debts, recent flashbacks from his past cropping up--to his annoyance -Affliation: Yggdrasil (a nation of its own.... ) -Other notes: Owns the Yggdrasil, which he had won from a nobleman in a poker game with a four of a kind of aces (the nobleman had recently found it on one of his private excavation hirings, and was bragging about it at the tavern that Rivian just *happened* to be at...... heh heh.... can we say "Luck"?) Has an odd, psychological problem with a yellow stuffed bear of unknown origin (the bear has unknown origins..). Often blames it for all his problems, and thinks it's plotting his downfall. O.o* -Yggdrasil: Will remain unchanged from the Yggdrasil in the game (including layout, room, and content), but add a casino located in the forefront inside the Gear hangar. This casino will consist of two poker tables, one blackjack table, one roulette table, one craps table, and five slot machines. A mini-bar is located in the rear of the casino. -Helmsman: Currently: Drake -Gear name: Furis -Gear description: A slender and pliable frame, midnight black in color with crimson edging; Aboard the Gear is the most advanced technological espionage and communication devices available from Shevat (as passed down per generation from the war 500 years ago); Is extremely agile and swift, with good versatility to various conditions/exposures -Class: Recon/Light attack Gear -Primary function: Espionage and "hit-n-run" -Weapon(s): Two long thermablade "blossom daggers" (three-bladed dirks--one main blade and two other blades extending from the hilt at an angle); Also, thick retractable claws extending from back of wrists (like the ninja claws) -- is a non-preferred weapon (came with the Gear) -Abilities/Disabilities: Stealth device: cloaks it invisible to radar from 10 meters and beyond; Because Furis is a Recon/Light Attack Gear, it can't take a very good beating, so often relies on its stealth device and speed to pick off enemies before a full onslaught ensues, during which it retreats. Thus, the Gear is quite useless in a one-on-one Gear battle (unless the enemy Gear is of lesser armor strength). -How your character acquired the gear: Left behind by his mysterious savior and knight when the knight disappeared (the knight stole the Gear when escaping the regicide in Aveh with Rivian). The nomads shunned the Gear in fear, leaving it behind to be buried within the sand. However, every year when the nomads migrated to that area, Rivian would spent hours digging it up and then trying to figure out how the Gear operated. When he left his tribe, he hired some private excavators with some ill-gotten funds, and had the Gear extracted from its sandy home to make it his very own. -Notes: Furis bears a striking resemblence to Marien's Gear, Ymir.
