We are all back in montreal, after a brief break, and we are busy getting
ready for touring this summer. So far the edgefest dates are the main focus,
but we are preparing for a few other things as well, including the "keep the
tribe alive" special that will be airing simultaneously on musiqueplus and much
music next tuesday (june 15th). We are very excited to be part of that event
and it will also be the first opportunity we will have to play some new songs in
front of an audience.

Vancouver, Canada-based band, featuring David
Usher (vocals) and Mark Makowy (guitar), who met
at a party hosted by mutual friend and keyboard
player Kevin Young. Makowy brought in bass player
Jeff Pearce, and eventually drummer Paul Wilcox
completed the line-up. Following a demo cassette
in early 1993, the band went on to release a debut
album on their own label in February of the
following year. Picked up by EMI Music Canada just one month later, the
record would go platinum within their own country, mainly bolstered by a
ferocious appetite for live appearances. Their most important early exposure
in Europe came when they were invited on to the Annual Smash Hits Poll
Winners' Party as a token rock presence (alongside that ofTerrorvision).

"Mercedes Five And Dime", scheduled for
release June 29, 1999, is the third release from
the multi-platinum rock act Moist.
Produced by David Leonard (Barenaked Ladies,
Wide Mouth Mason), "Mercedes Five And
Dime" is a more collective and organic album
than Moist's previous outings. The members of
Moist have grown individually and collectively
as songwriters. In the past members would
bring in riffs and "we'd just jam on them for a
while". For this record, they all brought in songs
that were closer to being completed which
allowed the band to experiment more with the
arrangements and the sounds in the studio -
you can here the band having more fun with the
music. For "Mercedes Five And Dime", the
band opted to use more acoustic guitars,
percussion instruments, synthesizers, loops
and "bells and whistles". The results are the
instantly catchy first single "Breathe", the
thematic "Mike Hammer" and the eclectic
"Fish", "Mandolin" and "Pleasing Falsetto".
"Breathe", recently released to radio, is off to
a great start. This song will also be included in
the film "Stir of Echoes" (Sept. 99 release)
starring Kevin Bacon and will be included on the
Nettwerk soundtrack for the film (Aug 99
release). The video, directed by Phil Harder
(Esthero, The Gap ads) is currently being
edited. There will be two versions with one
including footage from the film for release in
August.

MOIST: ONE DEGREE OF KEVIN BACON!
Further to the report earlier this week
that Moist have landed their 1996 hit
"Leave It Alone" on the soundtrack
to the upcoming Claire Danes film
Brokedown Palace (see June 1
DAMN), the boys are headed to
Hollywood again. The new single
"Breathe", from the forthcoming
album Mercedes Five And Dime is
going to appear in the new Kevin
Bacon film Stir of Echoes, due in theatres this September. It will
also be on the movie's soundtrack — in stores mid-August —
which is being released by Nettwerk Records (aren't they a busy
bunch these days?). The video was shot last month by Phil Harder
(Esthero, The Gap ads), and is currently being edited. According
to the new Moist bio released by EMI, there will be two versions of
the video — one including footage from the film."

NEW With live performances from Moist and Amanda Marshall. Live

Someone who knows a great deal about songwriting is
David
Usher. Poised for a tremendous summer,
Moist (the band he fronts) near the top of the bill for
this summer's EdgeFest tour, and a new Moist
album to be released June 22, Usher is pragmatic in a
fascinating Tête-a-Tête. "Recording an album is not a
huge myth-making process. When I sing, I don't light a
fuckin' household [full] of candles. I just sing the
song." He says "I try to stay in pitch."
Interview and performance
" Multi-platinum rockers Moist have returned with Mercedes Five
and Dime, the follow-up to 1996's Creature and they're stopping
by to chat about it and what they've been up to for the last three
years (remember that David Usher solo album, Little Songs?)
Don't forget to keep your eyes glued to Much because the video's
coming soon! "

See the new album section for further information on the 3rd album.
Nettwerk Records are pleased to
announce that two artists within its
multi-faceted family will have songs
included on the soundtrack to an
upcoming film starring Claire Danes
and Bill Pullman. Brokedown
Palace, which hits theatres August
13, tells the tale of a holiday gone
horribly wrong when two girls are
imprisoned for allegedly smuggling
drugs in Thailand. The two Nettwerk artists who have been
confirmed to appear on the film's original soundtrack are
Delerium and MOIST. The former's "Silence", which features
vocals by labelmate Sarah McLachlan, was originally released
on the album Karma. Likewise, Moist (who are managed by
Nettwerk boss Terry McBride) have contributed the hit single
"Leave It Alone", which was the first release from their 1996
album Creature. For more information about the film, check out the
official Brokedown Palace website HERE.
