Topiary Trees

terra cotta pot (you can find some interesting ones, even at Wal-mart)
plaster of Paris
a branch the right size to use as a tree trunk
Styrofoam ball
hot glue or craft glue
spanish moss, florist sheet moss, potpourri, dried buds, cones, etc.
gold spray paint
optional:
natural sponge
gold tempera paint


first spray paint pot, being sure to get inner rim
place circle of plastic or paper over hole in pot
mix plaster and pour into pot
put "trunk" in plaster when it is set enough to hold it upright
after plaster is firmly set push Styrofoam ball onto "trunk" being sure
to center
remove ball and reattach with hot glue or craft glue
cover ball with moss and dried buds and cones
optional:
sponge pot irregularly to "antique"


Note, size may vary. Tiny ones may be used as place card holders, medium
size ones as table top decorations, larger as door stops, etc.
