More Classic Geeps

Dirty old Geeps, the sequel -- we follow up one of our previous articles with more pix of our personal favorite diesels : the EMD GP7/9/18 series. Click on the thumbnail or file name to see the full-screen image.

	A pair of Buffalo and Pittsburgh GP9's are just about to enter the yard at Dubois, PA in June 1993. (BP_207.JPG; 82Kb).
	Well-guarded is immaculate GP18 1790 of now-defunct Central California Traction, resting comfortably at Stockton, CA in February 1985. (CC_1791.JPG; 83Kb).
	Somewhere east of Limon, CO, number 105 of the Cadillac and Lake Cities keeps the old Rock Island main polished as it spots covered hoppers for one of the many grain elevators along the route. April 1982 (CLC_105.JPG; 105Kb).
	Ancient coat of Chesapeake and Ohio blue barely clinging to its body, the 6051 of the Everett Railroad stands by outside the company offices in Duncansville, PA in May 1998 (EV_6051.JPG; 117Kb). This locomotive has since been repainted in the Everett's black and white scheme.
	Sporting homemade chopped noses, a pair of Katy GP7's trundle along Heights Blvd. in Houston, TX, headed for Eureka yard. 03 May 1986 (MKT_101.JPG; 106Kb).
	Still Houston, but 11 years later, and several ex-CNW GP7's (and a couple of SD's) are idle just south of Settegast yard in May 1997. These veterans had been moved south to help owner Union Pacific cope with its 'gridlock' problems, but were quickly taken out of service (CN_4124.JPG; 149 Kb).
	With a U-boat in tow, a somber Norfolk and Western GP9 prepares to shift cars at the steel mill in tiny Tiltonsville, OH in March 1977. This line now belongs to the Wheeling and Lake Erie. (NW_2928.JPG; 116Kb).
	The conductor sprints ahead to flag a crossing as four geeps of the R. J. Corman Railroad roll empty hoppers through the back streets of Philipsburg, PA. 13 May 1997 (RJ_1721.JPG; 75Kb).
	Their yellow and black paint showing off the line's 'Ma & Pa' heritage, geeps of Yorkrail (plus a CF7) pass the old station complex in York, PA with cars picked up from Conrail. 14 May 1997 (YK_1750.JPG; 94Kb).
