ABOARD THE MIGHTY SHIP

I drove down the highway

on my way into town.

Lights ahead were flashing

and rain was pouring down.

I slammed down on the brakes

my car began to roll.

Down a steep embankment

flipping out of control.

Your going home to Heaven

there's a new life you await.

I'll guide you through your travels

enroute to The Pearly Gate.

You'll make this final journey

o'er the vast and distant vale.

You're going home to Heaven

on the mighty Ship I sail.

I'm trapped in the wreckage

oh! Lord, I cannot move.

Beneath the auto's frame

I'm pinned inside a groove.

I hear myself weeping

as I try to move my arms.

"Dear God" I cry "protect me

please shield me from all harm."

Your going home to Heaven

there's a new life you await.

I'll guide you through your travels

enroute to The Pearly Gate.

You'll make this final journey

o'er the vast and distant vale.

You're going home to Heaven

on the mighty Ship I sail.

Blind from fire, the burning tears

trickle down my face.

I close my eyes and yield

my soul to Gods embrace.

The wreck upon the highway

has stolen my life away.

Then I heard Him whisper

I heard my Jesus say,

Your going home to Heaven

there's a new life you await.

I'll guide you through your travels

enroute to The Pearly Gate.

You'll make this final journey

o'er the vast and distant vale.

You're going home to Heaven

on the mighty Ship I sail.

Your going home to Heaven

there's a new life you await.

I'll guide you through your travels

enroute to The Pearly Gate.

You'll make this final journey

o'er the vast and distant vale.

You're going home to Heaven

on the mighty Ship I sail.
