OBJECTIVE

Over the years, I have been fortunate to sail on many different vessels. I am, however, searching for a position that will allow me to travel abroad. I desire to experience all that the sea has to offer. I also desire to further my education and my licenses by sailing the open sea.

I am willing to work outside the United States and have no qualms about living on a boat with a working crew.

WORK EXPERIENCE

February 2002-Present Employed by the Seafarer's International Union. Last position was on subcontract for Military Sealift Command, working out of San Francisco, CA., on the Cape Mohican . I was working as an ABS, Ltd., Wheelwatch.

June 2001-September 2001
Public Service Marine, as a cook. I sailed between California and Canada, serving as both cook and deckhand. Unfortunately, the boat is still docked for repairs.

June 99-June 2001
Western Pioneer, as ABS. I have sailed on Sculpin, Bowfin, Yellowfin, Capeland up the inside passage of Alaska.
Duties: In charge of securing the deck for sea, cleaning, wheel watches, chart corrections, loading and unloading of cargo, driving forklifts, pallet jacks and gear.

Aug 00-Sept 00
Foss Maritime, as ABS aboard Barbara Foss.
Duties: cleaning, maintenance, painting, working on and with lines, breaking and making tow.

June 00-July 00
Seaward Services, as ABS on YP697, Agate Passage
Duties: cleaning, maintenance, 6 on-6 off watches, working with NOAH and other government agencies in survey work to include sonar.

January 00-Feb 00
Coastal Transportation, as ABS on Navigator and Coastal Nomad
Duties: cleaning, maintenance, offloading and backloading bulk freight.

Apr 97-June 99
Pacific Coast Maritime, as Senior Deckhand(Ableseaman) aboard the ferry Christine Anderson
Duties: I am in charge of the loading and unloading of the boat. I have the responsibility of all accident reports and the safety of the passengers as well as the personnel. I am to make sure that the boat remains clean and safe. I am required to do maintenance that I feel capable of doing. I feel capable of assisting the engineer, if needed.

July 98-Sept 98
Pacific Coast Maritime, as Deckhand/Engineer
Duties: Cleaning and maintaining the tugboat, assisting the engineer with projects and doing assigned duties, watches and recording data. I was hired as a relief person, living aboard for 42 days.

Apr 94-Apr 97
Rainier State School, as Attendant Care Counselor
Duties: I was responsible for clients that were mentally and physically handicapped. I helped them with their day to day needs, jobs and living. I left this job because I was a temporary employee and was laid off every nine months for a period of three months.

Also served in the United States Army from June of 1989 to October of 1992. During this time, I was primarily stationed at Ft. Bragg, NC, though I did serve a tour in Saudia Arabia during the Saudia conflict. Received Airborne status while at Ft. Bragg.

Currently working on 1600 ton Mates License through Crawford's Nautical. Have received my certification, Unlimited Radar License.

AWARDS AND ACCOMPLISHMENTS
In April of 1991, I received a Saudi Arabia campaign ribbon with three bronze stars.
From 1996-1997, I sat on the Board of Trustees at Oberlin Congregational Church in Steilacoom, WA

PERSONAL INFORMATION
I have been married for nine years this year and have four lovely children. I enjoy spending time with my family, and assisting my wife in our homeschooling endeavors. However, my wife does understand that the field of work I desire necessitates an absence from the home.

In conclusion, I love to be on the open sea gaining more knowledge in my field and enjoy the companionship of my fellow seafarers. I would be thrilled to be an outstanding employee for your company.
