Gay Awareness Week
Well, it has taken us a while, but we finally had the Gay Awareness Week film developed. And as it turned out, we only have one picture to put on here. But the week was a great success thanks to all of Mandy's hard work, and the great turn out at events.
Schedule of Events
Monday, November 17 *Jeans Day- Wear jeans today as a demonstration of support for gay, lesbian, bisexual, and queer people. *The Celluloid Closet at 8:00pm in Martin 225- Critically acclaimed documentary on homosexualtiy in Hollywood through the decades. Discusion will follow.
Tuesday, November 18 *Michelle Rose and Vickie Flowers at 8:00pm in the Student Center- Take a break from your studies and groove to the tunes of this women's rock duo from Roanoke!
Wednesday, November 19 *Open Panel Discussion on Coming Out Issues at 7:00pm in the Student Center- A panel of students led by PFLAG parents will discuss coming out issues, specifically addressing how coming out affects the family. Questions will be taken afterwards. Anonymous questions may be left in box 826.
Thursday, November 20 *Poetry Reading at 8:00pm in Thoreson 302- Share queer-identified poetry in a casual setting. Prose, musical instruments, and performance art are welcome
Friday, November 21 *Smith Bar Party- 9:00pm in Smith Bar- Celebrate the finale of Gay Awareness Week! If you are 21, you may bring a beverage of choice. Sorry, no underage drinking.
