TVGEN: Welcome to the TVGEN/Yahoo! Chat Auditorium. Our special guests tonight are Sunset Beach's Hank Cheyne and Priscilla Garita. They play the roles of Ricardo Torres and Gabi Martinez. Greetings! Thanks for joining us tonight.

Hank Cheyne: Hi to all the fans out there, and please tune in to the prime-time special on Friday night on NBC. Thanks for all your support for making that possible!

Priscilla Garita: Aloha!

MaClay_24: How long do you think Gabi and Ricardo will stay together?

Garita: Forever, eternity, infinity. I never want to leave Ricardo, he is my true love!

Cheyne: I hope for a very long time — they've gone through a lot together and I think they deserve to be happy.

Garita: But his brother is awfully cute!

M_Keegan: You make an incredible couple, and can you tell us if you think marriage is on the horizon?

Garita: Marriage is in the air with Ben and Meg.

Cheyne: There's a possibility that Gabi could catch the bouquet.

TheJavaWeb: How do you like working with each other?

Garita: LOL! Oh, he's always entertaining me. He's always teasing me! He's really mean to me! No, actually, Hank is probably the best guy on the show to work with. As far as professional, does his homework — sometimes! — and always has great input, very creative! Now, be nice...

Cheyne: She's an incredible actress who's a pleasure to work with and always brings something to the scene that makes it good for me.

BugGirl_15: Priscilla , I love your short hair. What made you decide to cut it??

Garita: It was a character development choice.

cbjk72: Hank, I love your sideburns...were you an Elvis fan?

Cheyne: My sideburns have been trimmed back — the powers that be thought they were getting too long. I thought they were good for the character, but I guess they got a little too bushy.

Garita: They interfered with his beautiful face.

Cheyne: They made me look older and I think they wanted me to keep a younger look.

SmileyGrrl14: Hank and Priscilla, do either of you have any favorite bloopers from the show?

Garita: Let's see. It hasn't aired yet, so I can't do it yet. I won't go into detail. Ricardo and Gabi were getting romantic once again, and he prepared a lovely dinner for me. And we were getting a little giddy, and before we knew it, we were embraced in a kiss. But little did we know that a washcloth had caught on fire in back of Hank, and neither of us noticed until we finally cut the scene. Everyone was laughing and the prop guys had to run out to douse it, and we hadn't even noticed.

Cheyne: And that was just from a kiss! There was a time when we were on the beach and they were shooting us kissing. And they told us just to keep kissing, so we just kept kissing, for a minute or two, and we were way far away from the camera crew and after, like, two minutes we stopped, and the crew were doing something else and were onto another shot and had just forgotten to call "cut."

JAVYLUVR: Hank, I know you are married. How does your wife feel about all the steamy love scenes that you do with these pretty women?

Cheyne: She's better at it than I would be.

Garita: She gives him pointers!

Cheyne: She says, "Do it well, and then show me the money!" She's great about it. I'm sure it has to effect her, but she's very strong.

MSandner: Priscilla, what's Nick Stabile (ex-Mark) doing these days? I know he has a Chucky movie out, but what else???

Garita: That's being released in October, so he had a lot of hands on with that. He's strictly auditioning for films right now. He's on another level right now, doing well, looks great, saw him a couple of weeks ago.

Cheyne: Out of the closet.

lal_15: Do you or any of the other cast members play practical jokes on each other?

Garita: Hank's always playing practical jokes.

Cheyne: I had to give Antonio some items for the church auction. So I came into the chapel with a box, and I pulled out a few things, and the last thing I pulled out were some red, g-string panties. Kind of caught him off guard!

Garita: Threw him into another fantasy!

MSandner: Hank, does your head swell every time Sarah Buxton (Annie) says you're the sexiest man on the show in articles, etc.?

Cheyne: I love Sarah, I wish I worked more with her, but we're not in the same scenes. I wish we had more scenes together. She's so sexy too! I pay her well!

Garita: No wonder you're so poor, you're paying everyone!

M_Keegan: Hank, what was the picture you posted on Sarah Buxton's dressing-room door?

Cheyne: How do you know about that one? LOL! That was me just doing my best Jim Morrison.

Garita: No way, I think it reflected more of your feminine Jim Morrison side!

KamHesFan: Hi. I was really impressed with your guys' Shockwave stuff. It ended up making me like Ricardo (I hated your character, but Gabi was always a favorite). How do you two keep your chemistry going? Since you share so many scenes together, do you get sick of each other? Keep up the great work, hopefully there will be more Gabi/Ricardo scenes soon, like a wedding???????

Cheyne: Thanks, I'm glad you changed your mind about Ricardo.

Garita: We only work about three days a week on average together, so that leaves four days not to see his face! But he's just a fun guy, just like any other person you might work with. As long as they are good spirited and fun, it makes going to work fun.

Cheyne: She ate garlic pizza the night before our kissing scenes the other day!

Garita: I have to keep him on his toes!

Cheyne: We still had fun!

aprilrogers: To Hank and Priscilla: What was your favorite part about filming the tsunami scenes?

Cheyne: For me, it was doing the underwater stuff.

Garita: Definitely. It was probably the riskiest thing we had to do.

Cheyne: We had to swim through an enclosed tunnel which was underwater. And I had to wait for her to rescue me. Holding our breath for at least 30 seconds. It was a little spooky but it was fun. If felt like a film, you know?

TheJavaWeb: Priscilla, I love your new look...what kind of response did you receive from other SB cast members?

Garita: Everybody has been very positive with the change. They were definitely surprised when they first saw me. It was shock on their faces. Very supportive. People have been truthful, telling me they don't like it if they don't.

Cheyne: I like it!

Garita: But it's been better than 50/50 liking it.

_sweet__honey_: Hank, are Antonio and you going to ever find out that Maria is alive?

Cheyne: Well, possibly. Obviously, if she is alive, we'll find out. Stay tuned!

MSandner: Hank and Priscilla, describe yourself in three words, and your characters, as well.

Garita: I am emotional, sassy and silly! I don't know! And Gabi is...she's changing so much! Vulnerable, strong, innocent! LOL!! I don't know where that came from! Naive.

Cheyne: I am passionate, spiritual, kind of a geek. My character is strong-willed. Integrity. Fun-loving, but we haven't gotten a chance to see it so much.

nordstrom8: Hank, you were involved in one of the first daytime AIDS stories when you were on AW. What was that like?

Cheyne: It was incredible to be a part of something that was groundbreaking. And it was a very emotional experience, as an actor and as a person. I was proud to be part of it.

Lowri_Mai: Hi Priscilla, I think your new haircut is fantastic! My question is this, if you could choose Gabi's career in the show, would you keep her working at the police station, or would you have bigger things in mind? What job would you give Gabi?

Garita: If I were to remain at the police station, I would either want to be a detective or an officer. More hands-on. Definitely not a secretary. But I seeing her growing into a much more powerful position outside the station.

D_BRICKHOUSE: Who is the best kisser on the show?

Both: LOL!

Cheyne: Don't ask me, I've only kissed two people.

Garita: I've only kissed two people too, no, wait, three. Oh, Hank, of course, Ricardo, Retardo. He's got those big old lips.

Cheyne: I used to get teased about how big my lips were when I was a kid.

HoneyC16: How did you two get on Sunset Beach?

Cheyne: Auditions.

Garita: Yes, we auditioned.

Cheyne: Paid Aaron Spelling a lot of money!

Garita: Hank did!

TheJavaWeb: What other SB actor/actress would you like to work with that you don't work with now?

Garita: Ah, let's see. I'm thinking.

Cheyne: I'd like to work with Annie more. Because if you put both of our lips together in one scene, it might be...scary. Also, I'd like to work with Leslie and Sam more.

Garita: I would say there's probably three. I don't think I've ever had a scene with Olivia. Just her presence would be interesting to work with. And Sam Behrens I only worked with briefly during the rape trial. And I liked that a lot. Very strong character. It brought a different side of me out.

Casanova_G68: Are you the romantic type, Priscilla?

Garita: Yes! I'm a Pisces. I think they say they are romantic. Not all the time. Not mushy-romantic, but definitely.

TiffanyUCLA: Hank, what do you think of dating Asian girls? I'm available you know...hehe.

Cheyne: I love Asian women. It's my weakness. I lived in Japan for a while.

Jason2628: Did either of you do any of your own stunts during the boat sequence?

Cheyne: We did almost everything. Almost every stunt. That was what was so great.

Garita: That was the most exciting part.

Cheyne: The water was great, when we got hit with the tidal wave.

Garita: Seven hundred gallons of water.

Kiwi_Ann_81: Priscilla....aside from Hank here, who's the nicest guy on the set? Garita: Kim Adams is a darling! But all the guys are very cool, I get along with them very well.

Deschanel_Jewel: Is Gordon Thompson as smooth off-camera as he is on?

Cheyne: He's really fun, very charming and very professional.

TheJavaWeb: Do either of you watch SB in your spare time?

Both: As often as we can.

Garita: I tape it every day. I just watch for our kissing scenes really!

Cheyne: Right!

totallytubedin: So, do you have normal lives outside the studio??

Garita: Hank doesn't, I do! What is normal?

Cheyne: I hang out in my house a lot, it's in the country. When I go to work at the studio, I get to relax. I work harder at home, physical labor, than I do there. Priscilla is more in the scene than I am — she's the party animal.

Garita: I'm just trying to introduce myself to California.

Cheyne: I really just want to be Dax Griffin, so I get into the Sky Bar.

Blayde_Runner: Hank, is there any possibility that you make a cameo in a Plax commercial with your wife??

Cheyne: God, I would love that. We need a swimming pool. Have you seen Missy's commercial lately, because supposedly they are not running it anymore.

Yorkiechi: If you could write an episode for Sunset Beach, what would you make happen?

Garita: Conflict! Let's see. That's a tough question, you are putting me in a writer's position.

Cheyne: I'd do one episode when we could all be wacky and campy and stretch our characters out to the limit, and make the entire show into a comedy. Like it's not already, I'm just the straight guy on an offbeat show. Ricardo would be an artist, and he would be painting nudes of every woman on Sunset Beach.

Garita: Like we didn't expect you to say that!

SmileyGrrl14: Hank and Priscilla, can you tell us anything about the cancellation rumor? *crosses fingers*

Garita: We're very optimistic.

Cheyne: I didn't know there was one.

Garita: The ratings have increased, so...

lesr58: Hank and Priscilla: what kinds of responses do you get from the Latino community to your roles?

Garita: I get a lot of women who are proud to have a representative on a daytime soap. And they are aware that I am Costa Rican, that I do have Hispanic blood. And they are happy to see that. It's a good influence for Latin actors all around, in daytime, nighttime and film. So it's been a positive experience. And actually, the show airs in other parts of the world. And I have relatives in Costa Rica that watch it faithfully and they are very excited — especially when there are ad-libs in Spanish, since it airs in English.

Cheyne: I'd say the same. When you play strong Latin characters it's a positive thing. My character is strong, and he just happens to be Latin. So that's a plus, as opposed to the stereotypical roles that we see so often on television.

timdaa: What has been your favorite storyline so far, Priscilla?

Garita: It was a cross between the rape, Terror Island, and the tsunami. The most exciting for me to play.

nordstrom8: If you weren't acting, what would you be doing? Cheyne: I'd try to make it as a painter — not a house painter, an artist.

Garita: That's a tough one. I can't see myself doing anything else at this moment. But if I had to say something, something very low-profile. Maybe out in Arizona, learning about eastern philosophy.

rvsistops: Hank, I just recently read a article in Soap Opera Weekly indicating that you are of Indian descent. What kind of Indian descent are you? Cherokee, Hopi, etc., etc.. I specialize in designing and making Native American jewelry and Indian artifacts; maybe if you ever reach the east coast, I will have to make something for you and your wife.

Cheyne: Beautiful. I have a percentage of Yaqui, from my father's side. I would look forward to that. I take a lot of pride that I have Native American blood in me. I feel that it grounds me.

Catie798: Priscilla, what advice would you give to teenagers who would like to become actors/singers?

Garita: Definitely pursue it with no silly aspirations of the Hollywood legend. Practice. Do plays. Theater. Read scripts. Read plays. Take classes. Surround yourself with the art.

TrishaJax: Do you enjoy things like this, where you get to hear what the fans think?

Both: We love it.

Cheyne: I'd like to do it more.

Kimberly_SB: Mr. Cheyne, how did you stay underwater for so long when you were being the hero on S.S. Neptune?

Cheyne: I held my breath. When the pipes fell on me, they were loaded with sand bags so that they were very heavy, so they were able to keep you under water.

nordstrom8: What do you most admire about your characters?

Cheyne: Ricardo has really good gut instincts. Even though sometimes he pursues those very stubbornly.

Garita: My strength.

M_Keegan: Is Gabi the mystery girl in Antonio's dreams, or is it Francesca?

Garita: What mystery woman? Wink, wink!

lal_15: What is in store for your characters in the near future?

Garita: Love, passion, kisses! For the next month, anyway.

Cheyne: Hopefully, we'll discover a side of Ricardo that we haven't seen yet that's completely different than his cop persona.

TheJavaWeb: Any chance of a Ricardo/Gabi/Antonio love triangle?

Garita: Ooo!

Cheyne: That could be interesting! Brother against brother. MSandner: Hank and Priscilla: Are you excited about the SB prime-time episode?

Both: Absolutely. Everyone, watch. We're going to be tuning in ourselves. We're all very excited. Tune in!

Cheyne: I think it's a chance for not only daytime fans but also prime-time fans to see what we've been able to do with our show. I don't think we're a normal daytime show, I think we've transcended that.

SmileyGrrl14: I think it's soooo exciting that you have the prime-time special and that your ratings are going up!

Cheyne: We're excited too. Please tune in, it's Friday night, tomorrow night, it's really exciting. Very few soaps have done anything like this. And we like feedback!

Garita: Hasta luego!

TVGEN: Thanks for joining us tonight, guys. And thanks for the questions.

Cheyne: Thanks a lot! Go Bruins! We apologize for not being able to answer everyone's questions, but please write to us. We try really hard to answer all the mail. And thanks again for giving us your time.
