Rongar Scenes

The Return of Sinbad

Mustapha: Gentlemen! I'd like you to meet my best friend, Rongar. I think he'd be perfect for our voyage.
Sinbad: Well, any friend of Mustapha's is a--
Mustapha: He had his tongue cut out for not betreaying his brothers. Sinbad: I'm so sorry.
Mustapha: We love to watch people squirm when they find that one out. Huh, Rongar? Enough fun, my friend.
Sinbad: Can you use a sword?
Msutapha: He diesn't have to. He uses smaller blades. You see?
Casib: This is ridiculous. We're already taking a toymaker with us. Now we're supposed to bring a kniofe-throwing…zombie?
Sinbad: I hate to admit it, Mustapha, but the prince is right. Knife-throwing in a battle is risky, at best. No hard feelings though...nice meeting you.
Doubar: Sinbad, behind you!
(Rongar throws dirk)
Casib: Told you he was a waste of time.
(Man falls out of hiding)
Sinbad: Welcome aboard, Rongar.
Doubar: Who was that fellow?
Firouz: One of Turok's spies, most likely.
Sinbad: Well, if that thug was sent to spy on us, Rongar's taken care of that. We've now just gained an important advantage. We have the element of surprise on our side.

(While Sinbad is sliding down the rope, Admir puts his hand on it, but one of Rongar's dirks stops him from that; Rongar walks up to him)
Admir: The knot appeared to be coming undone.

(Rongar brings up a trunk)
Admir: How dare you! Return my belongings immediately!
Sinbad: Now, what?
Doubar: Rongar stole laughing-boy's luggage.
(Rongar opens trunk)
Firouz: MONSTER!

Mustapha: Burns...burns...burns...
(Mustapha disappears)
(Rongar yells)

Still Life

Firouz: Rongar! If you'd be so kind as to pass me that aboriginal toy?
Doubar: His original--what?
Sinbad: You know, his boomerang.
(Rongar hands boomerang to Firouz)
Firouz: Now, I ssugess we surrender.
Doubar: I'll die before I surrender!
Sinbad: You'll die if you don't. It's the only way to get the guards into one spot. Your bag, Doubar.
Archer #1: A white flag. They surrender us!
Archer #2: Careful, now. It might be a trap.
Archer #1: All right! Come out slowly! Weaons above your head!
Firouz: If this takes too long, we could wind up blowing ourselves up.
Archer #1: All right! Throw your weapons on the ground in front of you! NOW!
Archer #2: What's that behind the boy's back?
Sinbad: Oh, it's just a glittering toy.
Archer #1: Well, throw it over here.
(Rongar throws it, and it soars past them)
Archer #1: Right. Now to the business at hand.
Sinbad: Um, excuse me. We just surrendered.
Archer #1: You didn't think we were going to take prisoners, now, did you?
Sinbad: Comrades!
(They duck; the boomerang hits the ground and blows up the archers, throwing them every which way)

King Firouz

Sinbad: These are not the greatest accomdations. (Rongar hands Sinbad a bowl) Dinner, Rongar? Let's hope it's better than the room. (they sit; Sinbad's chair breaks) They're using Firouz as some sort of pawn, Rongar. We have to make him see that. (Sinbad watches Rongar eat) You're not going to really eat that stuff, are you? (Rongar nods) They serve us horsemeat. They throw us in this flea pit. Do you get the feelings we're really not welcome here? (Rongar shakes his head)

The Ronin

(Rongar comes up behind Doubar and startles him)
Doubar: You'll get yourself killed doing that to me one day.

(Rongar holds up the whirligig)
Firouz: It's a very pretty toy, Rongar.
(Rongar pokes the whirligig into Firouz's chest)
Doubar: Have you lost your wits, lad?
Firouz: No. He not only has his wits, he's found a solution.

The Ties That Bind

(Firouz runs into Rongar without knowing he was standing there)
Firouz: Rongar. Sometimes you have the tendancey to--
(Rongar points to his ear)
Firouz: You hear something?

(Rongar throws some dirks at the spider)
Firouz: It didn't even flinch!
Sinbad: Rongar! Aim at the top of the web!
(Rongar throws a dirk at one side of the web, and it falls)
Sinbad: Now that side!
(Rongar thwos another dirk at the other side of the web, and the whole web falls) Conundrum

Doubar: By all that is holy! Rongar!
(They run to him; Rongar shakes his head)
Doubar: We're not going back, old friend, not without you.

The Village Vanishes

Sinbad: Double pace, everyone!
(Rongar takes that literally, and he does a little skip-thing)

(Rongar rolls a wagon wheel, and it rolls behind a number of townspeople)

Firouz: I designed a catapult that launches over the wall. And Rongar has even agreed to be the first volunteer, after thje first initial test.
(Sinbad looks at Rongar)
Sinbad: Short straw?
(Rongar nods)
Firouz: You'll be fine.

(Firouz and Rongar are trying to dig a hole deep enough, to pass under the wall; Rongar turns grey, then reaches his hand out to Firouz, who tries to reach him; Rongar disappears)
Firouz: No!
(Sinbad and Maeve run to him)
Firouz: R-Rongar and I...we were...ah...attempting to tunnel the wall...it...it extends too far...Rongar...he...he...tried...he wouldn't stop...
Sinbad: Firouz!
Firouz: He's gone.

Maeve: Spirit of Oculous, lift the veil of obscuirty, so that we might behold...
(Appearing before them, is a window that sees to where all the villagers have disappeared to; it shows Dermott, Rongar, and a number of other people)
Maeve: Dermott!
Firouz: Rongar!

The Rescue

Bellamur: Didn't even need these. Just flashes of hands and feet. Amazing, really.

(Maeve is reading the magic book, and Rongar is picking up each of the things lying there, and holding them up to Maeve, wondering what each is)
Maeve: That's the conjuring bowl. Those are snake eyes. Those are pelican beaks. And that, that's...that's from a part of a pic you don't wanna know about.
(Rongar rolls his eyes)

The Bully

(They hear bells ring again; Dermott flies off; Rongar falls into a bed of quicksand)
Maeve: Dermott!
(The rest of the crew notices Rongar)
Sinbad: Doubar!
Firouz: Hurry, Sinbad. It's a quakemar.
Maeve: We call it a bog where I come from.
Sinbad: Bog?
Firouz: Yes, bog. Or quicksand. The more you struggle, the faster you sink!
Sinbad: Stay calm, good friend.
Firouz: It's a loose bed of sand mixed with water. It's soft, shifting mass yields to pressure, so that anything that rests on its surface, the tremors make it even worse!
Sinbad: Don't struggle, Rongar! We'll get you out of there in no time!...Won't we?
Firouz: Theoretically, if we make Rongar buoyant, he has a better chance for survival!
Sinbad: Rongar, don't move until I throw my sash to you. When you get it, grab it! And hold your breath, as if you were swimming. Try to get your body in a horizontal position. Understand?
(Rongar nods)
Sinbad: (throws sash but misses) This one's for real. (throws it again and misses again) You know what they say, third time's a charm. (throws again and misses again)
(Rongar goes under)
Sinbad: Firouz!
Firouz: Sinbad!
(Firouz takes off his medallion and ties it onto Sinbad's sash; Sinbad throws the sash, and Rongar grabs onto it; Sinbad struggles to pull him up; Doubar grabs Sinbad and helps; the others also grab onto the sash and pull Rongar out)

Firouz: The skyhook!
Sinbad: Quickly!
Firouz: Rongar!
(They put together a rope and crossbow; Rongar takes the crossbow)
Firouz: Aim for the branch above Omar. We only have one chance.
Doubar: You can do it.
(Rongar shoots the rope up)
Sinbad: Yes!

The Trickster

(Rongar walks alone, past some rocks; he sees the wind warriors from Conundrum trying to get him; he throws all his dirks; they finally disappear, and he picks up his dirks, and leaves, wondering what on earth was going on)

Vengeance of Rumina

(One skeleton shows off in front of Rongar, showing off all the moves; when he is done showing off, Rongar defeats him)

Heart and Soul

Sinbad: Rongar the Moor will come with me.
Firouz: An excellent decision.

(Rongar throws a dfew dirks at Orlock, hitting him)
Orlock: Sorry. They have to made out of wood.

Ali Rashid and the Thieves

Sinbad: Rongar?
Bryn: Something's troubling him.
Firouz: He's even stopped eating.
Sinbad: I'll go talk with him.
(Sinbad walks up to Rongar)
Sinbad: It's a nice countryside, isn't it? You're starting to get us worried. What's bothering you?

(The men are running off; Rongar goes to follow them)
Sinbad: Rongar! Stop!
(Rongar stops)
Sinbad: What's wrong with you?
(A few men on horseback appraoch them)
Ali Rashid: I am Prince Ali Rashid.
(Rongar yells, runs towards him, and pulls him off his horse; the crew stops him, and holds them both away from each other)
Ali Rashid: This man is wanted here as a thief. He was warned never to return upon pain of death. Because you are representatives of the Caliph of Baghdad, I'll spare him. If I lay eye upon him again, he will indeed be dead...Caliph, or no Caliph.

Sinbad: Let's break up. Search everywhere. If you find him, haul him back to the ship. Use chains, ropes, whatever.
Doubar: We're talking about our Rongar?
Sinbad: Gang up on him. His life's in danger. And so are ours.

Zorah: I was told you're looking for someone.
Sinbad: I am.
Zorah: Why come to me?
Sinbad: Because I was told you could help. I'm looking for a man named Rongar.
Zorah: What is he to you?
Sinbad: A firnd. And one of my crew. What can you tell me?
Zorah: What do you want to know?
Sinbad: About Rongar. And Ali Rashid.
Zorah: Rongar was the Prince of this kingdom. Then Ali Rashid arrived. He was a successful merchant Prince, looking only to establish trade contacts. Those appearances were nothing but treachery. I can say no more.
Sinbad: Then at least tell me where he can be found. Tell me.
Zorah: North of here lie the Mountains of Caff. Bewitched mountains that serve the thieves. Look for him there.
Sinbad: Why would he go there?
Zorah: Revenge.
Sinbad: For what wrong?
Zorah: I can say no more. Except that you must find him. Find him, and take him away from here. He'll be killed!
Sinbad: Thank you.
(They leave)

Sinbad: I need to know what you know. About Rongar. The Mountains of Caff. And this. (he shows her the note)
Zorah: Shendara. It's an ancient word in our culture.
Sinbad: Which means...?
Zorah: Allegiance. A commitment to one's people.
Sinbad: What does this have to do with Rongar?
Zorah: Everything. It is Rongar's burden. A burden that finally demands his retribution.
Sinbad: I don't need riddles. I need answers.
Zorah: Ali Rashid plotted against Rongar.
Sinbad: For what purpose?
Zorah: Rongar had learned that Ali Rashid had posed as a merchant Prince on other wealthy islands. Over three-year cycles, he would gain power, take the land, and then disappear.
Sinbad: Rongar used this to unmask him?
Zorah: He tried to. But the thieves of Caff, secretly working for Ali Rashid, were spreading terror by then. Ali Rashid demanded that Rongar suppress them.
Sinbad: But he couldn't.
Zorah: And then Ali Rashid accused Rongar of being in league with the thieves. This lie and his money turned the people. Rongar was forced into exile.
Sinbad: Rongar must have fought against this.
Zorah: At first. He lead a rebel band until a woman, his sister, betrayed him. She had fallen in love with Ali Rashid. He used her. Threatening to kill her unless Rongar surrendered himself. He did, and Ali Rashid cut out Rongar's tongue, and banished him.

(Sinbad is talking with Zorah)
Sinbad: What happened to the sister?
Zorah: She too felt the cutting edge of Ali Rashid's cunning sword.
(She takes off the handkerchief on her face, and reveals the scar; Sinbad gasps)
Zorah: I was the keeper of Imras, the enchantress's incantation. I told them to Ali Rashid. He used them to enter the mountains of Caff, to retrieve Imras invincible weapon. The weapon he used on me.
Sinbad: What has he done with Rongar?
Zorah: I only know that he'll be intent on making him suffer, and he'll try to do the same to you, and your crew.
(Sinbad sighs and leaves)

(The door opens, Zorah looks up, and is surprised to see her brother, Rongar)
Zorah: Rongar. Oh, my brother.
(They both are about to cry, and they hug)
Zorah: (after they pull apart) I'm so sorry. Please, Rongar. Forgive me. I'm sorry, Rongar. Forgive me, my brother. Forgive me. (she sobs a moment) Now you must go. Ali Rashid has your friends somewhere in the palace. Go rescue them. But be careful, my brother. Now go. (Rongar goes to leave, but turns back one more time)

(Rongar hops in the window)
Shirez: Rongar! He can't be here! Do you know what Ali Rashid would do to me if he finds--
Sinbad: He'll do nothing.
Shirez: Is that so? (turns to Rongar) Then I want you to tell me he can't harm me. Go ahead. Tell me.

(Rongar comes on the ship)
Sinbad: Coming aboard?
(Rongar nods; Sinbad laughs)
Firouz: A Prince on the Nomad crew.
Bryn: Your sister's a strong woman. She'll rule your land well.
Sinbad: Let's set sail.
