Our Matinee Idol

~~~
Well... Here's my little Rufus' story...
~~~
When I first saw him in november (8, 1998) in Paris it wonderful, even
though I was a little disappointed because I couldn't meet him :). That night
he played (I can't remember the exact order): Danny Boy, Matinee Idol, In
my arms, April Fools, Beauty Mark, Damned Ladies, Miami + (for the encore)
Millbrook. It was pretty short because it was a kind of festival and he
was the first to play. At the end of the four shows I was desperatly hoping
to see him but he was definately gone...
~~~
But I met Stephane... We leave together and spend the whole night
walking down the streets of Montmartre speaking endlessly...
It was a mystic night. We decided to go and see him several times in May...
We first saw him in Nancy (07/05/99) ; he played Danny Boy, Matinee
Idol, Damned Ladies, California, In my arms, April Fools, Baby, Millbrook,
Rainbow Crossing, Miami, Barcelona, Beauty Mark, Foolish Love and, for the
encore, Moulin Rouge Padam Padam (an Edith Piaf song) and finally Little Sister.
~~~
After the show, we waited for Him and finally He was there...in front
of us. We made our CD signed and i asked him for a kiss on his cheeks...No
need to say that i was very excited...
~~~
The day after (08/05/99) we went to Strasbourg where I had the
opportunity to take pictures for an interview; when we entered the room he recognized
me even if he couldn't remember my name...
~~~
At night he played Danny Boy, Matinee Idol, Damned Ladies, California,
In my arms, April Fools, Baby, Millbrook, Rainbow Crossing, Miami, Barcelona
, Beauty Mark, Foolish Love and, for the encore,Imaginary Love and Moulin
Rouge.Then I saw him in Lille (11/05/99). He played Danny Boy, Matinee Idol,
Damned Ladies, California, In my arms, April Fools, Baby, Millbrook, Rainbow
Crossing, Miami, Barcelona, Beauty Mark, Imaginary Love, Foolish Love
and, for the first encore, Padam Padam and Moulin Rouge and then Sally Ann.
I met him after the show and he asked me "how was it tonight?" and "which
show did you prefer?" he was sooo kind and he talked to everyone who came to
him.. Of course each one of his shows was ponctuated by His humorous speeches
and his wonderful laugh...
~~~
Onstage he's a great showman and he's really really funny... But when he sings he
becomes very serious and he's completely
absorbed in his songs... It's amazing to see such a change in his way
of being.
