Luke Savavge Memorial Handicap

When we rang up about this run we were told the course was not easy. This was a bit of a undestatement. We got to the start of the run and started hearing horror stories of last years run and how there was a high tide (at the time I was thinking what does a high tide have to do with a running race). It does though in this run. At around 6km mark the course goes through a lake type bit on the beach. Once you have run through the water and your shoes soaking there is a small steep bit of sand that you have to use your hands to get over then a few hundred metres on the beach. The course has a few lot of stairs and grassy dirt paths and a lot of fun stuff. I ran the run in 1996 and didn’t get to go back last year but hope to this year. Worth a try but if you don’t like the trail type courses this might not be a course for you. I ran the 9km’s in 34minutes on a flat course I might have at the time run 32. Andrew lloyd ran 29 and got the quickest time, anyway my point is it is not an easy course.
