"During peak experiences [moments of deep spiritual clarity WHEN ONE IS AWAKE FOR AN

INSTANT TO THE SUPERNATURAL - SPIRITUAL  - WORLD] the sense of self is both strong and

non-existent.  It is non-existent for the reasons previously stated, that in fact one does not, at

the heart of hearts, exist except as the Totality of All.  As for the other sense, the

recognition of being a trueindividual, this remains indelibly impressed on the memory and is the key to

many things.  Unfortunately, the natural man does not wish to know himself because it would mean

giving up so many illusions created in the Ego, partly by his environment and partly by the identity his

Ego has assumed.

TO REALIZE THAT ONE IS NOTHING AND EVERYTHING, REDUCES THE EGO'S STATUS

TO LESS THAN NOTHING, AND IT WILL NOT CONCEDE THIS EASILY.  NOR WILL IT BE

WILLINGLY  RULED BY SOMETHING  IT DOES NOT COMPREHEND, ESPECIALLY WHEN

ITS HARD-EARNED SECURITY IS TO BE THREATENED.   THE EGO WILL FIGHT FOR ITS

SUPREMACY IN THE PERSONAL CONSCIOUSNESS, BECAUSE IT SEES ITSELF AS THE

CENTRE OF THE UNIVERSE.

EVERYTHING QUITE LITERALLY REVOLVES ROUND IT..."IN NATURAL MAN, THE SOUL

IS ASLEEP.  NEVERTHELESS, IT STIRS FROM TIME TO TIME ...IN SUCH PERIODS,

IMPORTANT CHANGES OCCUR."
