We had a tremendous weekend in Boston. We ate steamed lobster and clams for
dinner on Friday night with Cathy Dougert, Crystal Shiner, Ellen and Cora also joined
us for a while. On Saturday we went to Salem in the morning to see some
of the "Witch City." Then on to the luncheon organized by Betty Peabody. There
was an amazing turnout with over 60 Bobby Babes in attendance. Many people made generous donations
of Bobby memoribilia and wonderful items for the auction. The silent
auction raised over $1,600.00 for Bobby's EMT Foundation. The beautiful quilts made by Joyce Spangler were really quite impressive.
I was lucky enough to win the bid on one of the pillows she made to match the quilts. I have sealed
it in plastic and will treasure it always. Suzie and Nancy were escorted to the luncheon by "Mr. Stud" the inflatable teen idol. He serves as
our guest of honor by proxy. Several door prizes were won too. After the luncheon we went back to the hotel and took a nice cool
swim. About 7pm we met up with Cathy and Crystal and headed for the
North Shore Music Theater. Our seats were section F, Row A. That's the
second row, because there is a Row AA. The stage is round and the center
of it revolves. The outer edge, about 18" wide is stationary. I didn't get to kiss him this time, darn it. But he did stop right
in front of me and point to me, gave me a little wink and a wave. I
also got to hand him some red roses too. I'm happy just to know that
he knew I was there. Bobby's show was great. He seemed really touched
by the quilt from Joyce Spangler and offered her a kiss. The band surprised
Bobby by playing "Happy Birthday" and the whole audience stood up and sang it
to him. He was so gracious and it was a beautiful moment. Happy 56th Bobby! Micky is beginning to grow on me now. I still really miss Davy though.
Micky is just now beginning to experience the gift giving thing. He didn't seem
to want to stop the show to accept the flowers and gifts at first. The audience
had to keep insisting that he go over and accept the quilt. He seemed extremely
surprised by it too. His sister Coco took charge of it and layed it
over the speakers to display it to the crowd. Peter came bounding out and gave his usual high energy performance. He even
sang a new song just for the Bobby Babes. He said he saw many of the Bobby Babes who had
attended every Teen Idol Tour and he wanted to give them something new. It was great. Just click on the pictures below to take you to the individual galleries. Once in a
