I don't have any builder numbers. I believe that all Climaxes in Wisconsin were of the class B type. The only exception may be that of the Ross Land & Lumber Co.'s 1st one. Source: Tabor & Casler "Climax an unusual steam locomotive."

3.)Paine Lumber Co. Summitt Lake (Langlade Co.) purchased 1899, passed to successor Langlade Lumber Co. Used on Langlade's Pearson operation as well. It is said that there was a Climax operating around Laona in 1929, and Tabor's book lists the owner as Yawkey Bissell Lbr Co. Y-B had no operations in the Laona area, so I think that this is probably that locomotive. It is the only known Climax to have operated in the state after 1910. Incidentally, this was one of the four or five Class B Climaxes built with horizontal cylinders.
4.)W.A. Osburn Lbr Co. Rib Lake (Taylor Co.) purchased 1902, passed to successor Rib Lake Lumber Co. for sale in Nov. of 1904.
5.)A. J. Mussell Bayfield (Bayfield Co.) Mussel ran trains on the Bayfield Transfer and used what was called the Bayfield Lake Shore & Western RR. Mussell began operations about 1905 and ended them about 1910. It is very possible that this is the same locomotive as that listed in #4.

Dunkirk Engineering Co.
While not well known this company built approximately 50 geared locomotives in the early 1890's. One of them wound up on the Port Edwards Centralia & Northern Railroad which was owned by the J. Edwards Mfg Co of Port Edwards (Wood Co)
Also worth noting is the fact that there were two home made locomotives known to have operated on Wisconsin logging railroads. One was built in the late 1870's by the Union Iron Works of Oshkosh and was used on Wakefield & Trow's tramway out of Merrillan (Jackson Co.) The other was built by the Seyler & Cooks Pinery Iron Works of Stevens Point for the Mannville & Eau Pleine River Railroad in 1881. M&EP was a wooden tramway at the time. (Marathon Co)
