bedrooms at home! But that's all hot, new, brothers band
The Moffatts have in common with Hanson... So says Bob...
Why has it taken so long to release a single over on our shores?
When we first started out we were singing country and western music. It's not a very universal kinda music,
though it works in some parts of the UK. I suppose it's taken all these timefor our own musical style to evolve
as we get more mature and find our own style. It couldn't be further away from country music.
Aren't you fed up with the comparisons with Hanson?
Hanson is a great band. The only comparison between us is the brothers band thing. Our music
style is completely different.
What's the difference between a brothers band and a boy band?
I think there's a mega difference. In the pop world there's a lot of boy bands
coming out that don't play any instruments and don't play or write their own songs. And we are brothers after all; not
a bunch of friends who start a group up or become friends after they join the band.
Boy bands are put together by managements, they're not really real.
What makes a Moffatt?
We're all so different that nothing really makes us a Moffatt. It's just the way we act, really.
We're pretty nice guys. Scott is the oldest at 15 and Clint, Dave and I are triplets aged 14. I don't think
anyone else could join the band. I don't think we'd really want anyone else either. It's not just that they wouldn't fit in.
We're called The Moffatts because it's our last name. And putting someone else in the band isn't really real.
Do you ever wish you had a sister?
We used to want to have a sister. But we don't talk about that so much now. It wasn't so much that we wanted a
sister to sing backing vocals. We just always wanted a sister because we think girls are pretty cool.
Did you consider any other names for the band - like Acid Raveor Death Vengeance? (or something)
We considered other names for a while but we thought The Moffatts was pretty cool. We started off as The Moffatt Family
then The Moffatt Brothers. We've been The Moffatts for so long now it's hard to imagine being anything else.
Were you boy babes at school?
We hadn't really taekn off when we were at school. Now that we are popular we have home schooling because
we're too busy to go to school. Our stepmother and our dad teach us because they come on the road with us.
In a way we miss having the friends we had at school. We do have friends but most are aides we hang around with or people
in the music business.
What's the difference between a Canadian and an American?
We consider ourselves to be Canadian and the last thing you want to hear from someone you've just met is, "Are you American?"
It happens all the time. They hear the accent and automatically think we're American. All Canadians hate that.
What do you do in your free time?
Just the usual boy things. We play sports like football, basketball. When I've got the day off I like to walk around, see the city sights,
do some shopping. We've been all over Britain and spent a lot of time in London. We love it. It's awesome. Glasgow was great, too.
Four brothers in a band - don't you drive each other crazy?
Not really. The only pillow fights we have are for photo shoots when magazines try to make us look like
we're getting worn with each other. Its' the other things that can be annoying. Scott and I share a bedroom but Clint
and Dave have their own rooms because Clint snores and Dave cracks his knuckles. It's terrible.
Scott hogs the TV remote control a lot. Dave used to be the mummy's boy but none of us are now. We've banned it from the band!
