The Wild Bird Care Centre is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing emergency assistance to sick or injured birds. I myself am a contributor and have brought two birds in for medical care. Click here to see my Alexandrine Parakeet page in my photo album. Her name is Emeraude or "Emmy" for short. She's almost 5 years old and a pretty good talker; especially when we leave the room.

On May 21st, I made the mistake of bringing Emmy outside. I expected she might try to fly but only up a tree or something. I did not expect her to fly away from me. Especially since she never flew any more than 10 feet every second day or so. I have had her for over 3 years and she is fairly well trained. On June 5th, after placing an ad in a local paper, I received a phone call saying she had been found. My deepest thanks go out the the Novak family for looking after Emmy for the 2 weeks she was missing. I hope she wasn't too much of a burden for you all.
