I dedicate this page to all that is Irish or Scottish. The background on this page used to be the Craig tartan. Unfortunately, you couldn't read the text with the tartan background. If you would like to see my tartan, just click here. The kilt I'm wearing in the picture above is not in the Craig tartan. I re-created the image of my tartan using Windows paintbrush and converted it to a JPEG using LView. Here's the story of my vacation in June of '95:

W ith some of the most beautiful countryside in the world, Ireland and Scotland are two of my favorite places to be. I've been to Ireland once and Scotland twice. The only thing I don't really like is the exchange rate. When I left on my trip in '95, I thought the exchange was unusually high at $2.18 Canadian to the pound, so I thought I'd shop around. Unfortunately, every place I went after that had a higher rate than the one before, going up as high as $2.49 to the pound. We rented a car in Belfast for one week and it costed us the equivalent of about $700 Canadian. OUCH! That cut a deep laceration into my recreation budget. If I hadn't rented the car, however, the trip would have been half wasted. We drove all around Ireland; up the Antrim Coast, around the Ring of Kerry, through County Cork to Blarney Castle where, yes, I did kiss the Blarney Stone and have the picture to prove it.

And if you ever go there, you have to visit Ballybunion. The town is so small that you could probably walk around it within a couple of hours and see everything but it has the most beautiful twin beaches in the world. It's right on the Atlantic Ocean and, like every other town in Scotland and Ireland, there's about 50 pubs, so you can take your pick.
