Introducing...
 CONCRETE EDEN
The mean streets of Baltimore, Md have given birth to CONCRETE EDEN, a new alternative/progressive rock trio. Baltimore is not
necessarily known for bands but times are changing and CONCRETE EDEN will be on the forefront of the new raw, hypnotic sound in the city. Their music is a combination of guitar-driven edge and laid-back mellow groove. The band is Debra Blackburn-vocals/guitar, Nick Mazziott-drums, and Karl
MacMillan-bass. Their influences include, but are not limited to: Led
Zeppelin, Nirvana, Morcheeba, Richard Strauss, Bootsy Collins, and Taco
Bell Fire Sauce.  CONCRETE EDEN's over-driven live performances have riveted audiences from the Baltimore/Washington Metropolitan area to as far south as Virginia Beach since February of 1998, three months after the group was formed.  In April of 1999 the song "First", from CONCRETE EDEN's
self-titled CD, was chosen to be played on 98 Rock's (A Baltimore radio
station)  "Noise in the Basement" program. The band was formally introduced
to the local scene in the September 1999 issue of Maryland's Music Monthly
in "The Music Report".
CONCRETE EDEN is an original band. Along with their own
independent, self-titled CD  release (January, 1999), they have been
selected for the Spitting Seeds V compilation of Maryland bands, to be
released in October of 1999 by Rabbid Rabbit Records.  The band has mp3's
available which can be found on the World Wide Web at www.mp3.com/concrete or on the band's own website https://members.tripod.com/~concrete_eden. Come and listen!

INTERVIEW

How long has your current line-up been together?
SINCE NOVEMBER 1997.

Can you tell us who each band member is and a little bit about that person?
DEBRA BLACKBURN(GUITAR/VOCALS)-CREATIVE AND BUSINESS FORCE.
NICK MAZZIOTT(DRUMS/VOCALS)-PROPHET OF DOOM, GROUPIE MAGNET, AND STATION WAGON DRIVER.
KARL MACMILLAN(BASS)-BEER DRINKING PHILOSOPHER.

What was the toughest obstacle to overcome in your career?
FINDING A STABLE, RELIABLE BASSIST.

What artist(s) has been an inspiration ?
WELL, NICK SEEMS TO FIND THE ARTIST MEATLOAF STRANGELY INSPIRING BUT, DEBRA WOULD SAY KURT COBAIN.

Who writes most of your band's music and lyrics? One person or by
collaboration?
DEBRA WRITES MOST OF THE BAND'S MUSIC AND LYRICS, BUT EVERYBODY WRITES THE MUSICAL LINE FOR THEIR OWN  INSTRUMENT.

Where do you see yourselves in five years from now? Still making music or otherwise?
STILL MAKING MUSIC AND EVOLVING AS MUSICIANS AND WRITERS.

Do you have any current releases or any in the making?
WE HAVE A SELF-TITLED EP LENGTH CD OUT NOW AND PLAN TO GO BACK INTO THE STUDIO IN EARLY 2000. ALSO, WE ARE ON THE SPITTING SEEDS V COMPILATION OF MARYLAND BANDS RELEASED BY RABBID RABBITT RECORDS.

When and where can we catch a live show?
NEXT SHOW-NOVEMBER 13 AT MUM'S IN BALTIMORE. WE CAN BE HEARD REGULARLY IN BALTIMORE IN THE FELLS POINT AREA.

How do you feel about all you've done and accomplished in your career? Do you feel that you've reached all your goals and expectations?
IT IS DIFFICULT TO PUT TOGETHER A BAND AND MAKE IT STICK TOGETHER.  WE HAVE DEFINATELY NOT REACHED ALL OUR GOALS, WE'RE JUST TAKING THINGS STEP BY STEP.

Looking back, what is your fondest memory as a group?
MORNING REHEARSALS THAT DISSOLVED INTO A 2 HOUR BREAKFAST FOLLOWED BY ABOUT 15-30MINUTES OF REHEARSAL.

Do you have any words of wisdom to offer to those that are just starting out ?
WE WOULD ENCOURAGE OTHER BANDS TO JUST BE RESPONSIBLE AND RELIABLE IN THEIR DEALINGS WITH OTHER BANDS AND CLUB OWNERS.

What is the most embarrassing thing that's ever happened to you?
BUTCHERING A COUPLE OF THE EARLY SHOWS DUE TO MEMORY SLIPS.

Do you have any regrets about anything that's happened in your music
career? If so, what and why?
WE WISH WE HAD STARTED EARLIER. JUST BECAUSE AS TIME GOES BY YOU JUST GET BOGGED DOWN WITH OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES THAT TAKE AWAY FROM TIME YOU WANT TO DEVOTE TO THE BAND.

Is there anything that you'd like to say to the fans or the people who have supported you throughout the years?
THANKS AND HANG IN THERE!
