The Kenyukai Karate club, founded in 1974, and its predecessor, the Japan Budo Center, both established by Sensei Minoru Morita, have operated in many locations on Long Island including Coram, Port Jefferson, North Babylon, Commack, Dowling College, and Setauket. Sensei Morita was one of the Japanese born karate instructors chosen to demonstrate Japanese karate to the world in the early 1960's as part of the Japan Pavillion at the New York World's Fair.

The Kenyukai Karate Club is now led by three main black belts- William Mason, Anthony D'Avino, and Gregg Warner, the first three students to start as white belts and rise to black belt ranks as members of the Kenyukai Karate Club and within the Kenyukai Karate Federation. The other blackbelts are: Joe Clarke, Paul Basirico, Steve Gagliano, and Andrew Pulcini. These seven are among an estimated 500 to 600 who at sometime trained as part of the Kenyukai Karate Club or the Japan Budo Center.

All Kenyukai Karate Club activities are directed by these black belt instructors under the guidance of Sensei Morita, and with the approval of Shihan Shunji Watanabe of Baltimor, MD., the Shorinjiryu Kenyukai Karatedo Federation Chairmain. The federation was formed in North America in the early 1970's by former members of the Japan based Shorinjiryu Kenkokan Karatedo organization.

The Shorinjiryu Kenyukai Karatedo Club continues to grow and train always working towards the goal of Spiritual Developement of Individuality in Mind and Body.
