Discreet and little-known: general coordinator of Libyan intelligence services is the current chief of the Guide's Intelligence Bureau (Maktab Maalumat al-Kaed), Captain Ahmed Ramadan al-Asabia.
Member of: Asabia tribe from the Tripoli region
Graduated from: Tripoli military academy, ordnance officer for Col. Mustapha Kharrubi, inspector general of the Libyan armed forces until 1983.
Met: Bucharia Furkach Haddad, brother-in-law of Colonel Kadhafi, and was posted to the Guide's Intelligence Bureau, then in an embryonic stage.
1983-1985: training with East German and Bulgarian intelligence services.
1985: Returned to Libya, posted to military intelligence services under the orders of Col. Kuyaildi al-Humaidi.
1987 (Chad): responsible for several purges within the "dissident" units in Tarhuna, Tobruk, Fezzan and Barqa.
1989: given responsibility for liaison between the Bab al-Aziza barracks in central Tripoli and the General Provisional Defence Committee.
1991: Faithful backer of Colonel Kadhafi, promoted and became a member of the Revolutionary Guard command, responsible for the regime's security.
Following the UN sanctions on Libya: the Guide's Intelligence
Bureau was reinforced and Captain Asabia was appointed its head.
