Fresh, Hand-Picked Mistletoe

Mistletoe Suzie said the Mistletoe is looking very nice
and tried to get us to charge you twice the price!
We told her, "no! We have it priced just fine!"
After a little though, she realized we are right!

Mistletoe has become a staple in our decorating for the Holiday Season. Highly regarded by our ancient ancestors from early Europe, mistletoe is hung in homes all over the world. Christmas just would not be complete without a nice, green sprig of Fresh, Hand-Picked Mistletoe!

One of the earliest writings on Mistletoe was in 1532 and published in an herbal publication. The berries, called, “Bird Lime” were used to ripen tumors and swellings. The juice from the fresh wood, when dripped into the ear would cure “imposthumes” in them. Powdered leaves were made into a drink to ward off “The Falling Sickness”.

Mistletoe was said to hold special “Magical Powers” to give longer life, and fertility to a newly wed couple. It was told that fortune and good will would come to all who hang a sprig of mistletoe within their homes. It was said that a couple who “kisses under the mistletoe” will know if it is meant that they marry.

Today we know that Mistletoe does not hold any magical powers. It will not prevent disease from setting in, it will not make a person fertile, nor will it ward off witches or evil spirits. However, we still use mistletoe in our Holiday decorating. It has become a staple in the homes across the American Continent. We use mistletoe for the "nostalgia", the beauty and the fact we have come to know it is a "Holiday decoration". We may kiss beneath it for fun of it, not to discover serious relationships. More than all this, mistletoe is a tradition of the season that will be around as long as there is "True" Mistletoe available for us to gather.

Why Sell Mistletoe for The Holidays
Not everyone has the availability of fresh mistletoe. Most mistletoe sold in the stores is not fresh, and in many cases does not bear any kind of resemblance to the real mistletoe.

True Mistletoe is very hard to find. There are many varieties available, but unless it comes from the tall Oak trees, it is not the European variety that became so well known as “The Kissing Plant”. Mistletoe adds variety and color to our decorating. See a photo of our Mistletoe at:
