The War With Winter
I set out against the world
riding a gray winter horse
holding an icicle sword
leading faithful men of snow
to our camps made of trees.
We invaded castles with bay windows
for days we chased the enemy
that left their footprints in the
freshly fallen snow.
But my sword broke in battle
holding off the attacking mailboxes
on a slushy sidewalk
my horse caught a southerly wind
and died.
My troops shrank in fear
from and April sun. And I
was finished
stranded
beaten
done.
The Girl in the Mirror
Only you are here
your shape
full of itself, large
as my life
even without my blood
you bulge
demanding
to be touched
that plastic belly
slippery skin
you're counting the rings
on my neck
I can see
your eyes
refuse me on my own ground
and not give an inch
even with your back to the wall
you're mean
you've got all the facts, you stay
gloating in your bright frame
I am the first to look away.
Grandma
The rolling stream of life moves on,
but still the empty chair,
recall the face, the voice the smile
of she who once sat there.
Softly the leaves of memory fall
sadly we stoop and gather them all
unseen, unheard, shes always near
still loved, still missed, and very dear.
Run With Me
Come run with me
escape to where you feel free
find yourself and love it
seek beauty
and simplicity
fall with me in tall grasses
lose your mind
and be refreshed
for someday
when the light breaks through
you will experience
true awareness
Where
Wheres my life
wheres my song
things aren't there
there's something wrong
Its been cut short
which cuts it long
oh my love
where have you gone?
Free as the Wind
To be free as the wind
that is what I wish
to be bright as the stars
that is what I want
but to have the gift of love
and the ability to give it
that is what I pursue.
Memories
Memories
The tight glossy fibers
shatter beneath my touch
silver threads
from glistening webs
are tangled on my
fingertips
moistly clinging
faithfully hanging.
Deep
Deep within the recesses of my mind I find
A place I left for dead
A place where fear meets strength
A place where darkness never reigns
Deep within the recesses of my soul I find
A place I've always longed for
A place to spend an eternity
A place quite hard to grasp
Deep within the recesses of my spirit I find
A place where creativity looms
A place where love is more important than pain
A place where my childself can roam free
Deep within the recesses of me I find
A place where I can speak my mind
A place that sparks my soul
A place where my spirit is free
But is this really me?
Back to the Cave!
