"BABE" (Retired)

Explosive Detection K-9 "Babe", a 68 pound Belgian Malinois, became a member of the Bomb Squad in September of 1995. "Babe" is trained to detect over 13 different types of explosives.

"Babe", donated to the Sheriff's Office, was trained by Detective Michael Hartmann and Detective Stephen Kopp. "Babe" is a certified Explosive Detection K-9 through the National Police Canine Association.

In November of 2001, "Babe" injured his hips and was forced into retirement. "Babe now enjoys all of the comforts of a well deserved retirement.
