STILL THE INNOCENT

Still the innocent,
though you've seen horrors unimaginable to me,
and delivered death to countless foes.

How do you keep it?
That wide-eyed wonder,
reaching like a child, out into a rainstorm,
ignoring the lightening flashing overhead,
laughing, to catch raindrops.

Strength hides in your small body.
You have a will that could shake the universe,
if your mind was set to it.
Or,
Just rock the existence of the tiny speck of life,
known as me.

In just a fraction of time,
I've given all the past and future of me,
to the bright burning flame of you.
Something, I swore I'd never do again,
letting another gain control.

What about you calls to my soul?
