DeGarmo & Key
In 1995, Christian Music said farewell to one of it's longest running and most consistent bands. Possibly one the most widely recognized of all Christian rock bands next to Petra, veterans DeGarmo and Key have proven to be pioneers in the field of music. They placed the first Christian video "666" on the playlist of MTV. Their evangelistic "buy-one-get-one-free" effort gave the consumer two copies of the tape D `N K : one for the listener and one for him to give away to an unsaved friend, loved one or even a stranger. These and other moves reflect the heart of the duo whose simple lyrics and music were sometimes referred to as "Bumper Sticker Theology". Although they dabbled on the pop side for a few albums and produced some of their most radio-reputable work, (MISSION OF MERCY, COMMUNICATIONS, and possibly COMMANDER SOZO), they returned to their classic rock sound with STREETLIGHT and never again pulled any musical punches. TO THE EXTREMES was fittingly the last album and the one of the best.
